So Nord just announced their release of "Nord Piano Monitors" - a pair of (you guessed it.... RED) piano monitors!
Given that their keyboards are first rate, I'm also expecting first-rate monitors! I haven't heard these yet but I'll definitely be checking them out at NAMM later on this week. Stay tuned, as I'm going to try to go live with some of my NAMM coverage.

In the meantime, here's a link to the release announcement:

Cheers!!!

Those stands are very sleek.

Speakers are relatively high margin so may help Nord keyboard development.

Hi Chuck,

I wondered how long it would take the manufacturers to cotton on that selling bespoke monitors is a great idea...Wonder how much these will cost?

Kind regards,

Doug.

And how much for the mounting brackets? Another $599? ;-)

BTW, the speakers are developed by Audio Pro. The Nord Speaker specs are quite similar to these, but without the digital and BT inputs: https://www.audiopro.com/en/product/addon-t14

If you sum up: Nord Piano 4 + wooden stand + monitors + monitor brackets + note rest... I wouldn't be surprised if it is more expensive than a CA98 or CLP685, etc. smile But yeah, Nord is Nord and I like them anyway.

The T14 are tested here : https://www.google.fr/amp/s/www.les...audio-pro-addon-t14-p44699/test.amp.html

Sorry for the French article, but you may find it useful since it includes frequency response with quite important attenuation in the specified frequency range. But perhaps the Nord has a more optimized electronic... or not.

The Nord are specified 2x80W, and the T14, 2x50W... the amplifier is not the same.

On an acoustic piano, the soundboard filter out the first partial of the lowest notes, then, you start to ear the 2rd or maybe the 3th.

The lowest note is however well perceived because the ear (and the brain) deduce the missing fundamental. Read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_fundamental

More information :

Physics of the piano (Nicholas J. Giordano), p97.

Quote
at frequencies below that of the breathing mode [±between 50 and 75Hz], the mechanical impedance increases rapidly, becoming larger and larger at lower and lower frequenccies. [...] This means that the board responds very weakly (with a very low velocity) at the frequencies corresponding to the lowest notes of the piano making it a very poor generator of sound at frequencies below that breathing mode.

Spectral Analysis of Musical Sounds with Emphasis on the Piano (Koenig David M.) shows piano spectrum with the first partial of a C1 note at only 1% the total power of the sound. The first 2 partials add up to 4%, We need the 3rd to be at 30%.

I think they're going to sell a lot of these.

Nord Pianos (and Stages and Electros) are popular with the gigging crowd. Like me. I always make the rounds of various stage pianos, but I keep coming back to the Nords. As do others.

But they didn't really have an "at home" package unless you wanted to roll your own. The Nord forum is rife with folks trying to figure out how to amplify their Nords at home. Well, for $$$ this is how you could do it -- and look super stylish in the process. Sure, there are other ways to achieve the same thing, but that's not the proposition here.

These are not my thing, as I don't play my Nords at home -- strictly gigging and rehearsals -- but if I did, I'd find a way to buy these.

Life is too short to be playing bad music.

Practice: Bosie 200, Yam N3
Live: Nord Piano 4, Stage 3 Compact
Amps: QSC K.2s, RCF TT08-s, FA 12-ac, CPS SSv3
Support: STAY stands, X-Air mixers, Vent II, etc

Of course you could always looks out for some of these...they made them in red. Even have their own bag. They occasionally come up and always go for less than £100.
