One person is enough to do it. The CA78 isn't a huge piano anyway.

It's not a huge piano, but it's still 75kg. Of that, I would guess at least 50kg or so are in the upper part that needs to be lifted on the stand once that has been assembled. The manual expressly states to do this step with two or more people. It may be possible for a strong single person, but imo the chance of something going wrong is not negligible. Could result in just a scratch somewhere, which would be bad enough, or at worst, he drops the main body (and then just proceeds without telling you he dropped it). Personally, I would want to be there. Not only to help out, but also to make sure that everything is done properly.

Yes, I agree with JoBert. And even if it were assembled before delivery I'd want to be there to inspect before accepting the delivery.

Thanks JoBert n MacMacMac

I have decided to get half day off to supervisor the assembly n to help with the build

My main concern is Him lifting the main out of the Box by himself.
I have question him why isn.t the Assembly an Two man job.
His answer was don.t worry. He fully qualified n certify Kawai installer.

If I have paid the Delivery n Assembly. I would have demanded two person

Better Safe then Sorry Right:)

Maybe you can video record the moving process so if anything goes wrong, you have proof that it wasn't you who damaged the product.

Beowulf, I find that VERY rude (sorry, I had to say!)
I also agree that two man are the minimum team for the task. You should definitely help the man

Going through that process recently:
- for carrying the original box with instrument I would even call 4 people (due to size and weight)
- once unboxed you can solo carry and assembly all parts but top one (with keys)
- you can solo carry and assembly the base
- top part with keys comes assembled (you can attach headphone hanger later, but it's optional)
- top goes on the base and is screwed together by 4 screws,
- don't even consider carrying and putting top on base by yourself:
* there are handles on the sides that are designed for 2 persons (one person grip will be very uncomfortable)
* it's very heavy (whole instrument is 75kg, where base is like maybe 5kg, rest mass is in the top part)
* 2 screws have to be aimed whily putting top on the base, so some precision is needed

I once carried a baby cot in a flat pack from the place of purchase (Carlisle market) to the car. It was further than i thought, but, well, I'm a MAN!

I got a hernia for my troubles.

On assembling the top section, better to raise it in increments, having appropriate supports to rest it on, building each end up, so the final lift can be a horizontal shift, one end at a time, onto the lower section.

I've assembled a fair few digital pianos over the years - lifting the keyboard section out of the box and onto the stand is a two-man job.

Kind regards,
James

Best to have two men. One at each end. Kawai probably would prefer that as, that is where it was designed to be lifted and, the case and internals would be stressed/reinforced for that weight and method. Last thing you want to do is bend something or crack the pressedboard ...

Yep. It's not a question of strength. It's a question of awkwardness. The keyboard unit weighs somewhere between 100 and 150 pounds.
That's quite a bit of weight, but still doable ... except that it's nearly five feet long.
You really need a man on each end.
