Interesting development .... Fairfield Hall in Croyden (South London) has an ambitious mission and programming to match. They’ll be opening next September, so I understand. News that may be of interest to pianists is the opening is in collaboration with Hurstwood Farms Pianos in Seven Oaks in the UK. In particular Fairhield will be feautuiing Phoenix brand pianos in their halls and educational spaces. They’ll be presenting concerts, master classes, and all kinds of community events.

Here’s a promo video with further infomation.

Very exciting to see a major venue choosing to feature instruments—Brisih-made pianos, at that, that aren’t the excellent but more much common and usual choice used by in most halls.

Thank you Mark, very interesting.

I believe some of the Pheonix pianos feature carbon fibre sound boards and actions. Do you know if one of these will be the piano &Fairfield?

Hi Almo,

First of all, thanks to Mark for posting this news. We’re extremely proud and excited by this new partnership. To be chosen amidst fierce competition is a great honour and shows that the U.K. piano industry is still alive and kicking!

Regarding the pianos at Fairfield, in case others are interested:

All, including the Model 272 concert grand, will come with a ultra thin carbon fibre soundboard (approx 1 1/4 mm thick) and WNG action (grands) or SFM action (uprights). The grands will be fitted with our bridge agraffes but also have our new carbon fibre capped bridge (with traditional style pins) on certain breaks.

I hope that this information is helpful.

Thanks Phoenix for the response.

Not sure this is the right place to ask this - but is there a possible of try the 272? as a pianist - i am very interested so see how it plays compared to a more traditional piano.

Almo82, I’m not really the right responder or maybe this should be a PM, but that said, contact James Bacon at info@phoenixpianos.co.uk.
