another thread about something thats keeps my mind busy. Contrary to many other people here, I was rather delighted when trying the Casio GP models. Here in Germany (and also in Austria) I was only able to find the GP300, at no place did I see a 400 or 500. The 400 seems to be even rarer (if there is a possibility of being rarer than rare).

The only place I found them was during a trip in York (UK), but back then I did not really consider them and thought I would find them somewhere else again. Did anyone have the same experience? I think its a shame since they are cool pianos, but no buying wihout trying

Well ... there are some GP500s for sale in Moscow and Saint Petersburg

I found one at my local. They specialize in Kawai, but they had a Casio GP. I cannot remember whether it was a 400 or a 500.

It's not just that the GPs are rare. All the Casios are rare around here.

I am pretty sure about 4 month ago there was a GP-300 at Pierre's fine piano's in Los Angeles.

This might mean that they are preparing for new models. Who knows

GP500 cost is 4500$ in Russia. What's the pricing in Europe and USA?

4000€ at Thomann (price for Germany that *includes* 19% tax, so 3360€ before tax).

Manufacturers sometimes make stuff like those GP models in very small numbers (sometimes even at a loss) to generate exposure at trade shows. That's why they have gimmicks like visible hammers. The revenue is then made by selling mass market models (Privia, Celviano) to dealerships.

So the main purpose of such models has always been impressing dealers, not pianists. As a result getting hands on such a model has never been easy.

Kraft Music in the US claims it has the GP-300, 400, and 500 for $3000, $4000, and $5000.

By the way: some guys say it's a pity that when manufacturers show their new pianos they usually use some modern simple stuff instead of classics. Looks like Casio is better with this:

Yeah Casio has probably best demos IMO.

To be honest: I wouldn't consider one of them. It's an "okayish" piano but for that price, it doesn't meet the quality that i expect (soundwise).

I actually really liked the 300 when playing it, only issue was that the headphone sound is reaaaally quiet, and that I had to fiddle around a bit with the settings.

Actually its above my budget, but I still would have liked to check it out. I see their ads everyday on my timeline and even Casio Support only told me to use the dealer locator...

The headphone sound is a little bit soft but nothing a $50 headphone amp cant fix if you feel the need to make it louder.

Or even a $30 one in a cool tin!
