Hello - I'm hoping someone here can answer a simple (but maybe obscure) piano literature question. I have had the pleasure of playing duets with my kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids while they are/were learning the piano. We had a favorite duet book in the 1960's (1 piano-4 hands) which included "Jenny Lind Polka", "Erie Canal", and "Ash Grove". Both the upper and lower parts were interesting and equal in difficulty. None of us knows what happened to the book, and we do not know author, publisher or series. It was probably in a category like "Advanced Beginner".
Any help would be great!

Do you remember anything else, like the cover art perhaps?

I've been trying to change my signature quote for weeks.

Thanks for your interest. It's probably 40-50 years since I've seen it. As I remember, it had a glossy/colorful cover, "modern" for the period. I don't think it was Schaum or Thompson, which was what we had most of back then.
This is like a needle in a haystack - I don't have any stores nearby that have a library to browse through (if they exist anymore), and I don't know of an online source that lets you browse the contents.

What I miss most is the "equality" of the upper/lower parts, which I think made the songs more interesting and more fun to play.

Again, thanks for your interest, and by the way, Happy New Year!

Just avoid the books that say "teacher" in some part of the description. Lots of books have say something like "equal difficulty." Sometimes online vendors have a preview option for sample pages. Sometimes there are audio samples.

You could try browsing at a library.

Good luck! Duets are fun.

Thanks for the hints. I also remembered that I have an old (like me) friend who still runs a small music store - digitals, band instruments, and accessories (in business since 1934, once a seller of acoustic pianos and organs).
I am out of town this week but will call her when I get home. She may still have a music selection, or at least a better memory than mine.
