CFX has a standalone player, you don't need anything else (e.g., Kontact).

I can't answer whether monitors or PAs or home hifi speakers are best for any given use case/environment. But CFX works great over high quality headphones...

I've been using Garritan CFX Lite for a week now and I still find myself admiring the sound quality of it. I play on the Yamaha CLP-645 and I'd say its own internal CFX Grand sound just doesn't come close to Garritan's. Thinking if it is going to be worth upgrading to the full version but I'm still an inexperienced player.

Do you use studio monitors?

Do you notice latency when running cfx lite through the clp645's speakers?

Interns of response is clp645 internal sound more responsive (less latency)?

Initially, there was a huge latency issue to the point where I don't feel the sound coming through the keys, but I was recommended to download ASIO4ALL to fix it. Now I don't feel any difference from playing with the DP's internal sounds.

Hi Everyone!‎

I am while first day of playing on Pianoteq 6 trial version and I am a bit confused how to access it. My first impression is - nor good, nor bad. As a price to quantity of instruments (I presume that all pianos included in trial version are contained in Stage version of Pianoteq 6 - am I correct?) is good, as a quality of sound to compare with Galaxy, Ivory or PV Compact Grand not too good.‎
Generally Pianoteq for me is dynamic and responsive, soft hammer in low velocities which I like, no latency on my old laptop and Quad Capture soundcard and lot microphone positions but generally all pianos for me not sound like really VST piano (I know - it's modelling piano) - lack of breath. It could be nice to have Steinway D and B, Petrof and Grotian in one pack ...but I am not sure yet that is my taste.‎

I think, if Pianoteq 6 stage contains: Steinway D, B, Petrof, Grotian and others like in the trial version, it's worth this price. ‎
Anybody know which exactly grand pianos are included in Pianoteq 6 stage version, choosing acoustic pianos pack?

I haven't try Galaxy and Ivory german D through the try-sound yet. Probably I'll do tomorrow.

I already booked a session for Galaxy Vintage D but unfortunately I couldn't run DAWconnect software. Probably any my fault, cause no experience with DAWs.
So, I will have to buy it using intuition. Hopefully I will scored well.
Galaxy or Ivory wink

The acoustic pack includes the Steinway D and the K2.

The other instruments are available for 49 euros each.

Don't think the included pianos are not good. They are great. The Steinway D is still is my favorite after 5 years of use, and I have all the modern pianos except the YC5. All these pianos are just different, with their own character.

I have Garritan CFX Lite running on macbook pro 2017 with i5 8Gb and SSD and there is no noticable difference in latency between it and the onboard DP sound. It sounds wonderfull through my HD599 Senns. The difference is night and day between it and the CF pure sampling of my Yamaha DGX 660. Im looking to upgrade to full version as i understand the ambient mics recording the actual reverb of Abby studio make alot of difference comparing to the emultated reverb of the lite version.

Oh, interesting. I'm still trialling Stage (waiting on faster laptop getting here (get here faster!))--only get the two pianos with the bought pack, then. Hmmm. Have to see if I can get away with the extra outlay...my fave so far also happens to be the Steinway D. Certainly blows the onboard pianos of my DP out of the water.

CyberGene--bit of off-topickery--I just noticed your location; doesn't the food over there make you feel...seedy, or anything? I was there a short while ago...it did me.

Haha! laugh Well, the problem with anything Bulgarian, including food, is inconsistency across products, companies, even different batches of the same product.

But anyway, food here is actually pretty good, we have quality vegetables, fruits, dairy products, etc. and is generally accepted as safe if you stay away from places that look... seedy, so probably you just didn’t have luck frown Could it be just a stomach virus or something? When I visit a new country sometimes I get those. Last time I was in Hamburg, don’t know if it was the food, the water or I caught something but it’s the first time a throw up in the air plane and as you can imagine those toilets are only meant to sit on them so my feet were outside since the door wouldn’t close and I made quite a spectacle for the passengers laugh Then the flight attendant tried to give me some pills and it was after a few minutes of chewing them that I noticed she messed up and gave me nicotine tablets which actually made me (even) sick(er) laugh

Anybody know procedure of installing DAW connect from try-sound website? There is description but probably I missed something and I don't know what.
https://www.bestservice.com/try-sound/howto.html
There is any tutorial or walkthrough on youtube? I can't find but I would like to book session again and some VSTs by my self.

The actual procedure depends of your DAW.

Generally,

Verify that the DAWConnect is in the VST path,
(Check C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins or C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins)

On your DAW, rescan the VST Path,

Insert an VST instrument track (on Reaper : “Insert a virtual instrument on a new track”) - coose DAWConnect.

Thanks Frédéric L for response.
Unfortunately all my DAWs not working. Cubase licence number has expired and bandlab not working as well (I don't know why) and I don't have any DAW at this moment.
Is it any way to use try-sound website and to play any VST without DAW?
