Good morning,

Dynasty Battles (his real name) is a young pianist here in Philadelphia. He just recorded this video at the Cunningham Piano Restoration facility on a CFX. The visuals are beautiful and so is his playing.

Enjoy!

He has something special about him. I think it's a sense of composure and effortlessness. Just looking at his hands is wonderful. What a fantastic combination of great playing and a great piano.

This was an excellent video in every way. Performer, performance, filming, audio, tuning, grand piano, location.
Thanks for posting!

You are most welcome.

Our restoration facility is an industrial location. The building is from the 1870's and it has all of the character of a building of that time.

This young man is a fine player, for sure. He deserves to be heard.

Very nice! I love that piece—it is one that I heard my dad play frequently while I was growing up.

Yeah, he is a talented young man. At his age, he has a long life of music ahead of him. Thanks for the comment Joe.

Playing the way he does, he should have a good career ahead of him. I hope and pray he can navigate the minefield that is the classical music business at the moment. Things are really tough out there for any artist trying to establish themselves, but he does have a fighting chance.

Bravo! How did I miss this the other day? Thanks for sharing.

What can I add except to say that he makes it look easy, and what a cool name!

Yeah that name! I thought thread was about several different concert artists competing on a Yamaha CFX. Fabulous performance on a fabulous concert grand!

I thought I was going to see Krystle Carrington and Alexsis Colby having a catfight on a Yamaha. That’s how old I am.

There is no question that this performer has the technique - and perhaps more - to handle this difficult Waltz. With all the rave reviews of this performance (here and on Youtube), I am somewhat nonplussed that I don't hear in it what others hear. I find it lacking in refinement of phrasing, it seems over-pedaled*, and the left-right hand balance is not ideal; I cannot say that I like it.

* or is it the venue that is too reverberant?

Regards,

I found the same thing. No, it's not Chopin's music to me, at all.
And the piano sound is sour and lifeless.

Yes I enjoyed his playing .Perhaps the hall reverberating as it does he needs to use less pedal .Good fluid playing .Perhaps the chordal sections need more of a sense of direction. I would like a bit more Rubarto in some sections .Yes phrasing can be looked at ,the music must breath .
A really good performance .,he deserves all the bravos he received.
