Don, you may have a problem with latency using Bluetooth. Most iOS users avoid it, but if you are using it for sheet music it is not a problem. The Apple CCK is the only adapter that works consistently in connecting an iPad to a midi keyboard, tho I did see mention of a third party adapter that works well and is cheaper. To record sounds out of the Kawai into an iOS sequencer you will need an audio interface,

Pretty sure you must be the one who have owned more digitals than anyone else on the forum smile Which is why (contrary to what you might think due to some arguments we have had) I usually read your posts with a genuine interest smile

Congrats on the new piano, sounds like a great one!

Thanks for the info on the stand too, I just bought the KS7350 too and it seems like a great choice for keeping future options open smile

Michael,

Forgive me if I am a bit skeptical of it being as easy as using the Apple CCK and USB A/B cable. I hope it is that simple but I have seen threads where it did not work and discussion included powered usb hubs and other accessories to make it work.

This video is what I am hoping for …..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vL72p3nmZuI

As far as using MIDI Bluetooth device …. I would not use it for VSTs …. I would use it to connect to my iPad Mini so I can utilize the virtual technician.

Because of what I have read about other users having difficult with Apple CCK, I thought it might work better than the Apple CCK.

The adventure begins …

Hi Don, in my experience ( which is only 8 intense months!) and the experience of many on the audiob.us forum, as long as it is an Apple CCK there should be no problem. When folks use third party adapters there is often difficulty. No one I have encountered has not been able to connect using the, albeit overpriced, Apple product. You can return in two weeks if it doesn't work.

No, as I have owned more digital(s) than "EssBrace" -- although since I am soon acquiring an acoustic piano will no longer be posting anything of relevance here -- in the Digital Pianos forum. grin ha

Okay, you win! grin

However, it really no longer matters as to how many digital(s) I may upgrade to in the future as I think it will be relatively few (if any) since my current digital(s) play just fine and will not be trading them for anything new unless they fall apart and stop working. Since the new acoustic piano is just around the corner (in January) my digital piano days pretty much end, here.

Yes. I've never been very happy about the hassle factor of using software and I am OCD when it comes to clutter and trailing wires and all that stuff. You can see therefore that I have very little experience with virtual pianos. Even the idea of them doesn't appeal. I just want to flick a switch and play.

The Salamander I loaded into the Dexibell so there was no hassle with that. The Concert Grand Compact is laggy to enough of an extent to spoil the experience. PianoTeq works flawlessly with zero set-up issues. But even so just the act of dragging out the laptop and connecting the USB cable annoys me so I very rarely use it.

That is the problem I have with vst, and the latency factor , no matter what is there, in comparison side by side, the onboard sound has most natural response
