Hello,

My wife and son have played the pianos at the local store and liked this best (other than the 40-60k models). Used pianos around here are usually the ones that haven't been tuned in 40 years. A grand would be a tight fit, and the used grands are baby's that were built more as furniture than pianos. I have looked at previous posts for the k500 and have seen better prices than I am being offered (7500-8500). I just want to make sure I am being reasonable

Piano- New Kawai K500, in glossy black finish
Fine's Max- 13190
Posted Price- 9650 (end of year clearance, or whatever the sale of the month is)
Additional 150 for delivery and first tuning.

I was thinking closer to 9k, but don't' know if I am just being delusional.
I was hoping to get closer to the other prices, but I think they may be from two or three years ago, and that may be the cause of my issue.

I want the dealer to make money, but I don't want to be a patsy either.

Any advice?

Much appreciated

I looked at a K500 when I bought my GL-10 last summer and I'm pretty sure the price was around 9K, so I don't think the price is out of line. I also looked at K300 which I think was $7900. These are prices from local reputable piano store. Here's a recent post where 2 people give the price they paid, I remember thinking these were much cheaper than the going price around here.

Advice?

Buy the piano.

Everybody posts a good price. Most folks don't post the price when they've overpaid. So if you're in the ballpark, what's $500? Negotiate an extra tuning or a few free piano lessons.

The K-500 is a nice piano. I just wish they would put the same music desk on it as the K-800.

In Vancouver BC the Kawai K300 was about 9,000 Can$ after the discount as far as I remember .The K 500 was more as far as I remember. That was a few months ago .

I paid $8K for my K500 10 months ago (60% of Fine's current suggested SMP). With sales tax and delivery the total price was around $8.8K. If you can get the dealer to go down to $9K, that would be 68% of SMP. $9,650 is 73% of MSRP and that really isn't all that bad either - and it may very well be the going rate in your part of the country. If you really like the piano, buy it.
