Has anyone seen this? (Sorry of another user posted it before, I've just read it from Pianoteq's forum)
A sounboard with no strings but transducers, something like Kawai and Yamaha's hibrids technoloy.

This is great. I just wish they could work around the front stand. From the picture, the slab seems detached from the rest of the ‘piano’. Perhaps if the stand slides inwards (under) the tail so as to only expose the keys?
I’ve been hoping for a Novus baby grand with a soundboard only (similar to the resonance piano), and no speakers. Perhaps it won’t be Kawai, but at some point someone will do it. Right now, the only way to get a soundboard is to buy a Yamaha TA or a Kawai Aures, but then one has to pay a premium for the full acoustic treatment.

12800 EUR = 14600 USD
Pretty pricey, eh?

So when can I see one in the shops? (Not soon, I expect.)

Pretty annoying that the Italian article won't translate into English on Chrome...

It translates for me just fine.

Resonance Piano, the acoustic tail that makes the digital piano natural. Our listening
by Gianfranco Giardina

From the ingenuity of Mario Murace (Chario) and Fabio Ognibeni (Ciresa) the acoustic add-on for digital pianos is born: without speakers, it sounds making two piano harmonic tables resonate. And the digital sound returns wonderfully acoustically.

Try to think: you are blindfolded and listen to the sound of a piano in front of you. A grand piano. There is no possibility that you can confuse it with a digital plan, even if it is the one with the best champions; and even if it is reproduced by the most sophisticated hi-fi speaker system. The grand piano has a fabric, an emission and naturalness that the digital piano does not have. It is the difference between live acoustic music and reproduction.

A few weeks ago, however, there is a point of contact between the two worlds, a kind of bridge that brings reproduction from the parts of the acoustic execution, with the digital plane that tends to fade and blend with the tail. In short, a journey to the center of the greatest mystery of music: why in the one reproduced often all sounds are heard, even analytically, but not the soul?

I'm sure this wasn't successfully translated into English. smirk While I love classical music and opera, this is why I never read critics' reviews of any performance I've seen or want to see. Language like this makes me bilious. LOL

Reading this, I am now convinced I don't want this, whatever it is!

For the soundboard I can make one myself, so....what transducers are they using?
