Hi All,

I've created a small comparison of internal sound of 1 of DPs I posses vs VST. I spent some time on adjusting the velocities and gain, so recordings are more-less equal.

Please be forgiving for my agricultural style of playing and try to guess, which piano is VST and maybe even what are the brands/models.

Don't know but I preferred 2. No. 1 had a bit of a veiled, over rounded sound to it. The kind of sound I associate with a DP. No. 2 had more of a clear edge to it.

Pretty much a guess, but...

Piano 1 - VST of a large Yamaha grand
Piano 2 - Kawai digital piano, some of the smaller grands

(Or Piano 2 could also be Pianoteq K2.)

I know that listening thrugh lap-top speakers is not the best idea, but some has to do it:)

I prefer 1 piano. Don't know what is it.

If you wonder what may happen if you start learning piano as an adult (at the age of 33, for example) - subscribe my channel and let's find this out together:)

Hello,

I'm very curious to know the solution.
I think there is not Pianoteq here.
The 2 pianos are really good. It's hard to prefer one over another.

The piano 1 could be a Kawaï digital piano.
The piano 2 could be a VST but I don't know it.

Piano 1 sounds fakey to me, Piano 2 more real. Although I don't think either sounded real.

I would say piano 1 is a kawai piano with harmonic imaging xl (like kawai cs8/11 ca97 ,es8 ...) and the second piano is pianoteq (could be the grotrian concert royal customized)

I prefer #1. But which is the piano and which is a VST? I don't know.
Caveat: I was listening through cheap computer speakers. I'll try again later using a proper sound system.

I think I liked #2 better. #1 sounded more distant. But I too should try with better speakers.

I think #1 is Roland and #2 is definitely Pianoteq. I think your "agricultural" style is gorgeous smile

It's such a fun to know the truth! I'm planning to wait 24h counted from 1st post until I reveal it. Both of those sounds have been heavily discussed on this forum in a lot of topics. Some of you guys have very good ears wink

I will pick #2 as the VST and I prefer that over the sound of #1 as well.

How about revealing it more like the 24th as in Christmas Eve? May I suggest you not reveal it 24 posts in or hours in? Some members like myself do not come here as frequently as many others but would like to participate in these things.

Too late to edit my previous post but #1 reminds me of Vintage D even though only one can be the VST and I chose #2 for that.

24th works for me - plenty of time to mentally prepare for failure.

Both excellent piano sounds but not like an acoustic. Your playing, too was impressive.
Both pianos had terrific dynamics, the tone of the second was slightly more rounded but there was little difference otherwise.

I'd guess the DP was Roland, I cannot guess the VST. Could be K2 Pianoteq, it's so clear. I wish my K2 sounded like that.

Would you please tell me the source of the music? I'm itching to get my hands on this stuff . . . love it!

Those are random melodies from my head, some licks and a bit of Edyta Górniak laugh
The first one though is a main theme from Brian's Culbertson 'Our Love'. Not in original key apparently, now that I've heard it again. I love how this guy articulates on the piano. This version is my favourite.
