Just curious - Has Hailun gone out of business and/or just stopped selling new pianos in the USA?

What makes you think they're no longer selling in the USA?

Not true! I am buying a new HG-161 this week. My dealer is regularly receiving new instruments. He received two 161s in September and both have already sold so things are going fine here, Iā€™d say.

No, they are NOT out of business. They produce over 100,000 pianos for the Mainland Chinese market alone.

Chen Hailun has no need of North America to support his business and (to me) it does seem that we are not his first priority when deciding where to ship his pianos. I am an admitted outsider (Hailun assembles my Cunningham pianos which I have never had an issue getting) but it seems that there are sometimes Hailun dealers that would be happy to receive more pianos.

My underinformed 2 cents,

I would suggest changing the subject of this thread, since when you do a google search, this is the first thing that pops up, which could be needlessly damaging to a company's reputation...

It's not the first time that someone has started a nasty rumour on PW.

I see StevenG is from Ohio. The dealer (BHA Piano) in Dayton Ohio where I purchased my Hailun appears to no longer be carrying new Hailuns. They have one Hailun on their website and it is used. They seem to be pushing a new line called "Hamburg". I have tried to find out some information on the Hamburg and can't seem to find anything.

if Sr.Gallasini's hypothesis is true, the 'hamburg' brand is made in the glorious people's republik, with Pearl River or Parsons among the likely suspects.

Ok, what does that have to do with the price of rice in China?

Take one silly rumor and add another one to it?

Whether you like the guys at BHA or not, you have no right to infer - unless you have specific knowledge - that they are spreading rumors about Hailun's demise.

As for the Hamburg line, a stencil line is very common on the lower end of a dealer's instruments. BHA has handled several different lines over the years in that type of instrument. Most dealers do. There is a certain type of customer who buys on price, and most dealers offer what they think is the best value in that area. Sometimes they are right. Sometimes, they get a line of clunkers and move on.

Do you think that among the Hamburg pianos there might be a model called Steinway?

Maybe, but I'm sure they must have a model ER.

grin ha

Good ones!

This also introduces some ambiguity ... when clever wordsmiths, who like to weave geography into their references, refer to "Hamburgers," will they be alluding to Steinway's German production, or these pianos?

Jolly, not sure why you think I am adding a rumor. I was merely pointing out that since StevenG is from Ohio maybe he is wondering about Hailun because BHA is no longer showing new Hailun pianos on their website.

For what it is worth, I purchased a Hailun 161 from BHA and then later upgraded to the Hailun 178 which was also purchased from BHA. We love our Hailun 178. I also do not have any problem with BHA. Our experience with BHA was a good experience and we have referred others to BHA.

Was Hailun previously this dealer's low-end line? Perhaps Hailun's steady price increases make it more difficult to position as entry-level or low-price-leader.

I can see that if someone only has a local perspective on their market, then a line vanishing could seem like going out of business. Especially coupled with an online dealer locator that doesn't seem to work.

Today after what happened to someone who bought a new piano all of this is SICK
