I can't seem to find anything on a piano that has Dwight listed on the front and on the inside. I found a serial number inscribed on the back. Could it possibly be a division of Baldwin?

How old is it? There are two Dwights in Pierce, in 1822 and 1839. If the piano is clearly not 19th century, it'll be a stencil of some sort.....

My parents bought it used 40 years ago. I would be surprised if it was much older than that.

Best thing to do would be to post some pictures here, particularly of the action, plate, etc. Some of the more experienced techs here may recognize the inner workings.....

It could be a Baldwin spinet stencil from the 1950s...but I base that on little more than the serial number (if it were a Howard) and that DH Baldwin's first name was Dwight.

It looks like an Aeolian spinet.

The given number, 134985, would date from 1920 if it were an Acrosonic. It's out of range for the known National and Howard numbers, which never get beyond 5 digits.

Aeolian numbers stop at 98000 in 1933, so it could be after that.

As a Baldwin number it would be from 1956, which looks consistent with the style of the case.

Interesting that they went to the trouble of having "Dwight" cast into the plate.

They did not have Dwight cast into the plate. The name is on a separate casting. By Aeolian, I mean a spinet made in the Memphis Aeolian-American facility. If you look at some of the other names that they used, you could get about 1966 for Hardman, which seems about right for the piano.

Yes, you can see the gap between the "DWIGHT" piece and the rest of the plate. It also sticks out some above the tuning pins.

Thank you all for the thoughts! I wondered about that Dwight plate, also.
