Considering getting a semi weighted keyboard for practice when travelling (dexibell S1, but could be others). Although I do indeed feel slightly off when I go between acoustic and my current semi weighted I feel I can generally adjust. My question is - in the long run would it be harmful or beneficial to my acoustic piano technique to play on semi weighted here and there and for week long trips? Perhaps it would be better to not play on semi weighted at all or might there actually be benefit? They clearly require somewhat different technique.

For week long trips it will do no harm at all. Although, personally, I think that a week of sheer 'mental' practice is harder, and would be 10x more beneficial, than drumming the fingers away on anything.

It would be good. Any time you practice on something with a different response, you build up your ability to adapt. For a long time I had only one piano, and when it had to be replaced, it was shocking how bad I was on any other instrument.

Look into a roland go piano. They are actually pretty good.

I just got a GoPiano. It's been good for working on learning fingerings. Not so good for working on the musicality. So, I've been using it mostly to work on new material. It definitely hasn't harmed my normal playing. One thing I did have to do was change the keyboard response to heavy, as the standard light setting made it really hard to do any kind of controlled dynamic.

I have this in my office and it has been fun for jamming with my teammates.

I would get the 73 key yamaha p121 as traveling practice keyboard.
Only 22 lbs. and a whole lot cheaper than the dexibel s1, with what i would consider to be a better action.

Thanks for your replies. I was considereing the yamaha 73, issue is its still too big to take on a plane as carry on, while a 61 key midi semi weighted would likely get a pass
