was wondering if anyone has noticed a slight buzzing on notes, especially in the middle range....it's not much, and i assumed that it was just the way the sample was made......but i thought i'd check before mailing kawai....thanks......

I haven't noticed anything like that with mine. However, I am not really good at distinguishing the finer points of piano sounds.

Is the buzz coming from the speakers or when you're listening through headphones?

And... is there a chance of a ground loop? (if you remove USB / MIDI / etc. cables, does the buzz go away?)

I noticed “buzzing’ like resonance, through speakers, at high volume, with certain keys in the high end of middle octave and there abouts, on an ES7. It seemed as though the right speaker grill was resonating. This noise resolved after moving the slab/stand further from the (rear) wall. IIRC there is also a “wall” setting in the menu.

yes it's mostly in the middle range and some notes are brighter than others......but as i'm mostly playing at home, i can live with it fpr now......i may check with the kawai people and send them a sample recording....they are very helpful.......thanks fellas

If it is resonance of the speaker grill, you should be able to find the exact notes it's effecting. I brought a pair of iLoud Micro monitors and had to return them because one of the speakers buzzed at A4, A#, and B4 (most strongly at A#).

hi! I had the same problem with my ES8 that i decided to sell a few months ago.
Only through the speakers, i think it's a common problem with the bundled internal speakers. It was a shame because if not probablly i never sold it.

Perhaps the sellers boxed your old one back up and resold it to Yankovich.

That isn't unheard of unfortunately.

ok....yep....it was the grille.....kawai tech is going to call me to tell me how to correct the issue....................i have to say that the service from kawai is second to none....really nice people........cheers,.......vic

oops....nope it wasn't the grille.......i recorded the midrange notes through the earphones, and the buzz was audible....so i sent the recording to kawai.....so i'll wait a couple weeks and see if they respond and agree it's not natural, or say it is just the way the sample was recorded......we'll see..........

I've checked the Kawai CN37 and CA48 using SK Grand sampling. YES, it most definitely buzz/resonate horribly in the center of the keyboard, both on the speakers and on the headphones, so it must be the SK sound sampling issue. I love Kawai openness and airy sound but this resonance issue is a dealbreaker for me...and I do have very sensitive ears, so....Pity, the pianos sound so nice...

Interesting. From both SK, I like the SK-5 better as it is mellower. Perhaps because the Concert Grand has this "feature". I am curious to see what others have to say about it.

Well, I am sorry but it is going to take more than some "stranger" coming to this forum for 2 days posting negatives about Kawai SK sampling for me to climb on the HORRIBLE Kawai sounds boat. I have played many Kawai keyboards and HORRIBLE is not a term that comes to my mind.

Call me Skeptical of your motives.
