Hi everyone, it is a private sales and I checked out the piano with a technician yesterday. Per the technician everything looks good except it would need a pitch raise before tuning. The serial number is 4956884, the price is settled for $2300. I am hoping it is a fair price and the pitch raise is not a big issue? Thank you.

How far out is the pitch? Has the pitch been deliberately lowered (which would be unusual) - or just drastically out of tune due to neglect.

If it's been neglected, I wouldn't expect a tune/pitch-raise to last well, but might need very regular tunes for a couple of years before it became stable.

What did the technician advise?

thanks. The technician said it is minor and won't be a long term problem.

Sounds good. Don’t skimp on getting the pitch raise and tuning done (will cost more than a typical tuning) and you should be fine, going forward, with normal maintenance thereafter. Good on you for getting the piano inspected prior to purchase.

I serviced a ~20 year old U1 trade-in at a store recently that was at something ridiculous like A430 because it probably never got tuned by its owner. After a pitch raise, it tuned up just fine and sold quickly.
