The classical video promoting Trifonov's recording of the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 4.

Do you like the video?

Incredible scenery. Trifonov's dressed in late 19th century garb but plays a Fazioli that didn't exist at the time haha.

I really loved the video and the difference in time between the dress and piano did not bother me. I instantly thought ‘hmmm, he Chose Fazioli’. Yes, the scenery was gorgeous but even more impressive, the video was well selected to match the music. That doesn’t always happen.

If more of these type of videos were done, could it boost interest in classical music? Maybe

Yes, that was fun! A nice setting for the music, and the “plot” didn’t draw excessive attention away from the music and the musician.

I think so. How much classical music makes its way into our heads without us even knowing it from movies, commercials, heck even cartoons. When we encounter these pieces we’ve heard before we almost always seem to recognize them and maybe even appreciate them that much more.

Some random thoughts….

Every passenger train should have a Fazioli in the Club Car.

I didn't realize (or probably never paid attention to the fact) that Rach composed a 4th piano concerto.

Trifonov's character could have offered the conductor his wedding ring as payment for the ticket. (He probably should have removed the ring for this video - ha ha).

Not a good idea to play Rach with stones on the keyboard.

Hope someone is encouraged to make more of these types of music videos.
