I am new to digital pianos. I was hoping that someone more experienced than me could comment on whether I should consider waiting for the Yamaha P515 or just go with the Kawai ES8 that I already like. The main difference that I am concerned with is Kawai's RH3 action vs Yamaha's NWX action.

Thank you for your help!

You can't answer that without testing it out yourself.

My first thought is that I never like plastic keys compare to wood even if its only white keys and without wood inside. For me there is something wrong with plastic keys laying side by side if I compare that to acoustic piano only and distance between keys, so I will probably go for Yamaha but of course you must test it first.

Hello mukrohin, welcome to the forum.

I agree with JoeT, however you could perhaps try the Yamaha CLP-645 to get a feel for the NWX action, which will also be used in the P-515.

Kind regards,
James

I agree you need to wait for the P-515 to become available and then try it versus the ES8.

I really like the RH3 action on the kawai but not everybody will think the same as me.

I think piano actions are a personal thing and therefore you need to make that judgment for yourself.

Whichever one you like the sound and feel of the best would be the one to go for.

I've had an ES8 for almost a year now, and play it everyday. I couldn't find anything that came close to the action on the ES8 when I was shopping. That said, I played the P515 today and it is definitely worth considering. Especially because my KAWAI ES8 is having some sensor issues on G3 (it sometimes reads full forte when it is not pressed hard), and recently another key seems to be going that direction. It is apparently problematic with the KAWAI's.

However, the SK Grand Piano engine on the kawai is incredible; and you can't get that audio engine anywhere else but that piano. I record to MIDI in Ableton, master, and then save the MIDI to a usb stick. Just so I can stick it in the ES8 and have it convert to the SK piano. The results are awesome.

Hope this helps.....

Hi Bobby.

I've owned the Es7 and had the same sensor issue that you had and thought I get it fixed under warranty then sold it to buy the es8.

A few weeks after purchasing my es8 I had the same sensor issue again so Kawai swapped my es8 with another es8. And guess what? I had the same sensor issue again after about 4 weeks. In frustration I contacted Kawai again who have identified an issue with the worn moulding that is manufactured for the es8 rubbers for the sensors. Kawai had obtained the rubbers from their new mouldings and had it installed in my es8 about 2 months ago. I've had no problem with my es8 since the new rubbers were installed. If it hadn't worked, I would have sold my es8 to buy a yamaha p515. It appears though that I won't have to as so far so good.

Previously owned a Kawai ES7. Now own a Kawai ES8

Also, The fp50, is 799 , which is similar to fp60, but fp60s predecessor
