It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
I'm pretty sure children are not permitted. You're out on the active floor in the midst of sanding, etc.; it's not the kind of tour where you walk down a hall and look through windows (it's almost 150 years old!).
Not only would a babe-in-arms breathe dust, but there are lots of stairs which can get slippery from sawdust. You'll need both hands for safety. Regardless of permissions, I'd recommend not bringing the baby.
Fingers, I'm still in. CY-The factory is very clean and there is no saw dust or debis around however they want everyone wearing eye protection and they give out safety glasses. If a baby is held and can wear them perhaps its OK. Frank- They do not allow pictures because it disturbs the workers. Fingers said it starts at 9.
It's set! Steinway NY factory tour on Tues. June19, 2007.
Time: 9 AM Sharp, Length: about 3 hours Place: Steinway factory located at: One Steinway Place 38th Street and 19th Ave. Long Island City, NY 11105(in queens)
For SAFETY reasons, babies will not be allowed. As a parent and having taken the tour before, I personally believe that it is a wise policy.
Please post (again if you will) as to who and how many will take part in Piano World's very first Steinway & Sons NY Factory Tour. Space is limited.
Regards, fingers
Playing piano at age 2, it was thought that I was some sort of idiot-savant. As it turns out, I'm just an idiot.
To reiterate my very early post(the third one) in this thread. I will be there and am not bringing anyone else along. I assume if there are more positive responses than places "first come first served" will apply.
