Hi,

I was about to purchase the Galaxy Vintage D, however I am reconsidering after reading this thread http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2583592/vintage-d-half-pedal-issue.html

Vintage D players, has this issue be fixed? I play at an advanced level so this would be a big no-no for me.

I haven’t heard of an update and I never received any further answer to my issue with the half-baked half-pedaling.

If you play a lot of music that demands half-peddling, you better avoid it in my opinion.

Would you say the problem is very clearly noticeable?

Even with the half-pedal limitations you'll be hard pressed to find a better sounding piano.

Yes, it’s clearly noticeable but I am known to be very picky:) Many people love it.

From time to time but still exist, don`t expect virtuoso performance with it.

Still my favorite Steinway, but I play pop, not classical.

Does somebody know if the same pedaling problem affects also the NI Grandeur and Maverick?

What, exactly, is the problem with the half-pedaling? I love my Galaxy Steinway but, like Macy, I don't pedal that much, but I'm curious what the specific issue is.

I never metaphor I didn't like.

Sorry for the stupid question - I just now followed the link provided by OP and see what the deal is.

If you press the pedal first and play a key, the sound is well sustained and you can cut it slowly by depressing the pedal. It acts like a real continuous pedaling. That's fine.

If you play a key first and after that you press the pedal, the sound is well sustained, but you can't cut the sound slowly by depressing the pedal. It acts as an on/off switch.

Thank you for making this thread and linking the other one. I had some weird moments with Vintage D when the resonance would be suddenly cut off, but I couldn't make any sense of it. I'll try it out later again, but the pattern that is described in the other thread makes a lot of sense. That would explain why it only happened occasionally.

Too bad about these problems. On the other hand, we've seen an update for the Pearl which is also several years old. Perhaps the developer might follow the example of that? Although I doubt it.

I am just curious what the developer is up to now. Looks like he sampled a couple of the Native Instruments pianos (Grandeur and Maverick, I think?). Would be interesting to see what he could do today, with the knowledge and experience he has amassed over the years.
