So it is not that easy to get disqualified, then? Chopin was half-Polish, and Liszt had some Hungarian roots, if I am not mistaken. Brahms was pretty German and composed those fantastic Hungarian dances.

So would I get disqualified if I submitted the following piece:

Hungarian Bravura Waltz

Possible reasons for disqualification:
- the piece is for violin with piano accompaniment and not for piano solo
- the piece is my own composition, and I am not of Slavic origin
- I can only provide a synthesized recording since I am lacking a violinist to play it
- I made the score and the recording for the IMSLP and not for PW

Any further reasons for disqualification?

Are you actually playing the piano (or keyboard)? If you are, then great. But if it is synthesized too then I would say no. You can share it in the composers forum...

I'm sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but I feel compelled to let you know that neither Hungary or Romania are Slavic countries. This probably disqualifies Bartók and his Romanian Dances or anything from Liszt that was mentioned earlier. If this wasn't the case I'd be signing up in a heartbeat with a Bartók piece.

I know nothing about the distinction, and I am not organizing this recital, but let me suggest that, rather than being pedantic about it, we simply expand the definition so that people who have volunteered to play are not disappointed.

I was surprised when people included Liszt and Bartok because Hungary, although located in Eastern Europe, is not even close to Slavic.

But I did not want to rain on anyone's parade laugh

I think I got the recording today that I'm going with for this recital. Anyone else ready yet?

Due to time zone complications and my work schedule I will have to open the recital a bit early. (Sunday evening European time). So those of you who want to be first be warned smile

And no, nothing recorded...still hoping to get the piano tuned in time...

I look forward to hearing everyone play. I will have to skip this one since I am in the middle of a move and my RX-6 is still on its side in storage. I have not practiced in five weeks and it’s killing me!

Well, due to some technical issues the recital will open tomorrow as originally planned. I will find the time somehow...

19) Bartók - Six Romanian Folk Dances, Sz. 56, BB 68 - ElaineAllegro

I regret I will have to un-subscribe to this recital. I thought I could "bring these back" faster than was possible. I look forward to hearing everyone else. (It's a good reminder to record pieces when they are at their peak for future use. <sigh>)

Schubert, Moments Musicaux & Impromptu Op 90 No 2; Dvorak, Dumka & Furiante Op 12; Bach Inventions #2, 3, 4, 15; Haydn Trio XV:25 (Gypsy Rondo); Frank Bridge, Miniatures, Romance (trio)

Why not just submit the part that you're comfortable with...?

Any submission - even if not ideal - is better than none...

Re Bartok Romanian Dances: I checked in too late, past the submission time. But I found an ok but not terrific recording from a recital in June. Maybe I'll clip out the other pieces and just attach a link here.

This is actually from Dec. 2017. I think I can do better now on most but there are some measures in #5 and #6 that are still a challenge. Here's a link to the 2017 audio for anyone who's curious. Now I'll go listen to all of you who sent in a recording on time. blush
