Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on the forum. Recently I got a second hand KAWAI digital piano model CA93. But unfortunately, I cannot read Japanese at all. Does anybody know how to switch Japanese language to English on the LCD display? Thanks a lot.

I couldn’t find anything about this specifically in my English manual, but you might try a factory reset:
Enter the basic settings menu by pressing the F button, then press F again. Now use the left and right arrow buttons until the 1-11 function appears. Now press the REC button to reset to factory settings. Hopefully your factory settings were in English.

If you can follow Coker's instruction up to 1-11, press left/right once more to reach 1-12. That should be Language setting; you can use up/down buttons to toggle between Japanese and English.

Once this is set you should be able to navigate in English, but to make it the default: Press F twice again, and navigate to 1-10 which is for saving the setting. Press Rec button to save.

May I ask where you are based, and where you purchased the CA93 from, please?
Is there a reason you did not raise this topic with the seller before purchasing the instrument?

Actually, on my CA93, 1-12 is the setting for “Hymn Player,” not “Language.”

The "Hymn Player" function is a special feature that is only present on CA instruments sold in the US.

Thank you all for helping me on resolving this problem. I just follow Coker's instruction, then Alohaneko's instruction, and it works!

As to James' question, I'm a Taiwanese, but currently live in Hanoi, Vietnam, And I bought this 2nd hand KAWAI CA93 in Hanoi. I did raise this topic with the seller before purchasing CA93. He gave me a positive answer in the very beginning. But right after the piano is delivered to my house, he said he cannot find any solutions.

Anyway, I'm happy to have this chance to join this forum and get to know people like you who are willing to provide good advice on piano problems.

Thank you for your reply, and for explaining how you came to acquire a Japanese CA93 outside of Japan. I gather that industrious piano stores in Vietnam, Thailand, etc. will often bulk-import containers of older generation pianos from Japan to sell on the local market, but unfortunately do not provide any support when it comes to changing the region/language of the instrument.

Anyway, I'm glad that you were able to change the language setting yourself. It might be worthwhile to store this configuration to the User Memory, to ensure that the instrument starts up in English each time.
