Just looking for a consensus opinion in the price difference between Yamaha P115 vs P125. I purchased the P115 three years ago for £450, it now stands on the market for £669, and the P125 at £489. My question is if the p125 is the successor to the p115, why is the p115 more expensive?

The specs on those two look identical.

Anyway ... Amazon has (or had) the P115 for $531 (subject to availability), and the P125 for $600.
So the newer P125 is slightly more expensive, at least on Amazon.

Other sellers don't offer the P115, showing it as discontinued.
Which brings me to the point ... what meaning does a price have if the item is no longer available?

I think the biggest difference is the p125 supports a USB audio interface so you can record digitally straight to your computer (no audio jack required). Also the p125 has a nicer optional pedal lyre with metal pedals. Maybe some tweaked speakers too. AFAIK the action and sound are identical.

That's the expected sort of improvement from generation N to generation N+1.

Anyway the point is moot unless you're looking for a used P125. Otherwise ... it's discontinued and not likely to be available as new.

I think you meant to say “used P115” (just so that there is no confusion which model is discontinued).

I think you are thinking of a different DP. The p125 is brand new and replaces the p115.

IMO this is precisely the right time to be asking the question. The P125 has just been released, and there's still stock of new P115s just about everywhere. So with both models available new (perhaps with slight discounts on the P115), it makes sense to know whether the feature differences justify any price differences between them.
