I have the Mark 2 electronic box ( I think -without waiting to go check right now) it’s really old school and I don’t use it except for the metronome.....and I’ve been told I can upgrade the electronics which would be really fantastic. I like this idea since I love my piano - Yamaha G 1, 15 yrs old now, and don’t want to buy a new one. So is this worth doing or should I think of a new piano?

Hi, yes I guess (you would need to contact yamaha or check on the web for compatibility) but in principle the upgrade to the dkc-850 unit is possible for mark2 disklaviers. Maybe not worth it though... Quite expensive (over 1000$) and if you use it only for metronome, i wouldn't bother (its a good improvement with internet connection and new ways to archive recordings (no more diskettes) etc... I have it and for me it really made a difference but I use it extensively. ;- )

You could also get a bluetooth adapter an run recordings and playback from an iPad or some other device.

Yes PBL, I do Record on my iPad with a microphone adaptor. This works fine for me using a voice app I downloaded. I think I’d like the on-line features the up grade offers too though. I’ll get the Yamaha guys to demo it before I buy

I think I would end up using it extensively too, once I get it! I am thinking of putting something in our new winery cellar where it would get used a lot. We hope to put on quite a lot of music events through the winter in there..... but I’m not sure if I want to part with my piano....depends what I get as consolation.....
