I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 with a 9.7" screen. I'm currently using it with Document Viewer, which is a rather nifty PDF viewing program that, among other things, has an automatic margin cropping function. With the margin cropping, the print comes out big enough to read; not greatly smaller than the same page printed on paper, in fact. Big enough that I can read it comfortably, anyway. Now I'm thinking that the next thing to get would be a page turning pedal. Upon doing a bit of searching around I found this Donner Bluetooth Page Turner Pedal. It seems to be a fair bit cheaper than the other page turning pedals (half the price of an Airturn), so I'm wondering if anyone has used this Donnor Pedal? It is any good or would it be better to spend the bigger buck on an Airturn or perhaps there's something else that you might recommend?

Frank, the reviews on the Amazon link that you provided seem very positive.

I have one. It’s a little smaller than I had expected but seems quite sturdy. Because of the way I have my keyboard set up due to room size restrictions, I use my left foot which is surprisingly uncoordinated I’m finding out. I have to be sure to use just the right pressure or I will turn 2 pages or none at all. The battery lasts a long time and there is no discernible lag. I just need to use it more to get used to it. I would buy it again. Oh and it is pretty good about not sliding around on the floor.

I have to be sure to use just the right pressure or I will turn 2 pages or none at all. That would be an instant disqualification for me. That has never happened to me with my Airturn, and would be very annoying. The totally hassle free page turns are one of the main advantages of tablet+pedal vs. paper book, imo. If it is not actually hassle free, because I always have to hit the sweet spot of the pedal, or else I get 0 or 2 turns instead of 1, then I would question why I have a pedal in the first place.

Are you using a VST piano? If so then you have a PC attached, and so you can add free software that will allow an existing piano pedal to handle page turns. I don't make use of the sostenuto (middle) pedal, so I assign that to page turns ... for free!

Since these tablets have a "selfie camera" built in, it would be interesting if you could use that to register some kind of a movement that would initiate a page turn. No extra hardware would be required that way. To an observer it might look like you got attacked by a wasp at the end of each page, though.

No extra hardware would be required that way. That shouldn't be too hard to do. But it would pretty much require that you have the tablet plugged in all the time as you use the piano, since running the camera and the ML/gesture recognition model would likely drain the battery quickly. But if you're going with a hand gesture anyways, why not just swipe the touchscreen? It's just as fast.

Who said anything about a hand gesture? Maybe you could nod your head or something like that.

Frank, Don’t take my review as gospel. It could also be as simple as to where I have it placed in relation to my feet. My room is crowded and I have the pedal kind of crammed into the only place it will fit. Admittedly I could likely move a couple things to make more room but then I’d have to find a place for those things😬. I don’t ever use my left foot for anything but a clutch so muscle memory does not exist.

A clutch you say.... Don't forget to downshift before that big crescendo up ahead!

How else does one approach a crescendo? Always wondered what people with automatic KBs do....
