Very encouraged to see the high standards on display at this year's Washington International Piano Artists Competition. Coaster and I are through to the semifinals, but in my case it was a very nerve wracking experience counting the number of people who were obvious shoo-ins and realizing that there were a lot of them. Anyway I play second tomorrow. Coaster is last! cry

Here's a link to the program: http://www.wipac.org/2018%20WComp/Comp%20Program%202018.pdf

Congrats to you both!

BTW, that link doesn't show a list of semi-finalists. If you or anyone have a chance to post it....

Congratulations to all who participated, and especially to Coaster, SiFi, and the other semi-finalists.

On a whining note, I wish WIPAC would take their website more seriously. Not knowing anything in advance about the order of performances, announcing as soon as possible the semifinalists and their performance schedule, etc., all makes it very difficult for those of us who would like to be in the audience to plan our visits. I know WIPAC runs on a shoestring, and all the energy is devoted to the event itself, but after following the Cliburn Amateur and other competitions, one gets spoiled about real-time availability of information.

Anyway, to all playing Saturday, toi toi. I'll be there at least in spirit.

Hi SIFI and Coaster
Best wishes today! I’m assuming it is not being live-streamed???

Yes, the website is almost impossible to navigate. But hey, it’s marginally better than it used to be!

Coaster an I are both on to the finals. She/he was awesome today. I was obviously just good enough. Looking forward to lots of food and drink at the Cosmos Club after tomorrow's event.

How exciting and obviously well-deserved! Now on to the finals! What more to say, except: Congratulations!

Congrats to you both! It’s a shame WIPAC doesn’t live stream.... would love to have cheered you on in real time

All performances were recorded and should be available (hopefully) soon at "wipacusa" FB page.

This is exciting news to read. I know who SiFi is, but which one of the competitors is "Coaster"?

Thank you! (I also received the Best Mozart award. I don’t see it listed.).

I’ve never won an award for an individual piece before, so it was quite a surprise to get three of them.

The best part of these competitions is the friendships. I am always sad to go back to real life. Today was my first day back to school (teacher workdays) and it was just kind of a bummer of a day... even though I like my job! I miss everyone so much!!!
