Ok so I've posted this in general Roland pianos topic but that was probably mistake, so I'm creating new topic. Anyyyway:
Since I can't test out LX-7 and LX-17 in my city, can some of you summarise how they compare to each other and to HP605? I'm thinking about LX-7 because LX-17 is almost twice as expensive but I might change LX-7 to LX-17 in the future, who knows. Is there really a problem with frequencies distribution between speakers on LX-7?

Well, this would be a pre-post (I think by someone) or the topic anyway.

LX-17 ---- most speakers (best) "sound"
LX-7 ---- close second. but just by lacking the number of speakers of the 17
HP605 ---- I like the "sound" but not the Roland sound (laugh) but some quality speculation; meaning either because of fewer speakers/type or positioning and power it doesn't match the 7/17.
HP603 ---- less than the 605

I have 605, but also know structure wise it's different than the 7 and 17 because those are larger on the "Up" of upright pianos and thus can house more speakers or bigger ones---- simply more space than the less 605/603 lines.

I think they are all fine pianos---- although I use mine more as a controller now. I'm not sure about frequency distribution w/the 7 vs 17 (obviously I don't have either but did once play a 17, sigh---- but not for $7-$8g :-)) although I've felt there's a problem w/the 605--- hence I've added external speakers to augment the range.

From other opinions, I've heard to go with the 17 if you have the coin, even from users that have a 7 but didn't have the coin for a 17.

I tried both the LX17 and LX7 and I actually liked the LX7 better. It seemed (to me) that the LX17 had to much of a shrill sound to the treble. Although having had the piano for awhile, I have found out that you can do quite a lot to customize the sound to your liking with Piano Designer. The LX7 was much cheaper, especially if you don't get the polished ebony. I played a Yamaha last weekend and it confirmed my initial choice. The sampled sound was good, but the action just did not feel as authentic as the Roland.
