"Thoughts?" Bösendorfer is correct. Bosie is lazy. Why not call Steinways Steins? Yamaha Yams?

Or a Schulze-Pollmann could be Schumann, a Mason Hamlin could be Mash.... The possibilities are endless.
Some men are music lovers. Others make love without it.

I do also call Yamahas with a nickname...and do tend to drop the & Sons as many people do. I don't really get why this is a problem for you. And I am a big fan of Bosies...I just wish I could invent as good a nickname for my Blüthner...

I think I might start! Yeah that rolls off the tongue. Spell it Yahm to match the pronunciation. I might have to settle on Stan for Steinway, though.

I liked the Steinway for classical and the bosie (sorry) for Jazz. However, I wouldn't kick the Yamie (sorry again) out of bed. All three are excellent in their own way.
I don't like the plate color on the Steiney, though.

I have just watched the first video for the first time. The host is apparently trying to give us a balanced impression of the pianos but they are in different spaces, he is playing unlike models, and he is comparing a plain cabinet from one manufacturer with an art case from another manufacturer, which gives the layperson a false impression of price difference.
It is a nice exercise for him and, hopefully gives people an introduction of the existence of options, if not a very well controlled comparison.
I know of Stefan Mendl though and I may have actually seen his piano trio perform once while in Vienna (whenever I am in Vienna a day does not go by without attending at least one performance somewhere).
This is a much better controlled comparison of these three actual pianos. I would not want to extrapolate more than that from this comparison. Who prepped the instruments for this comparison, their experience with each brand, how each piano was set up when they arrived, etc., etc. will effect our perception of the instruments.
Again, it is a good comparison academically, but concert grands from all three companies vary depending on many criterion.
My 2 cents,
