Hello PW,

First I need to say that I wish I had more spare time to spend here. I was here at the very beginning of PW and I have enjoyed it immensely over the past 20+ years. Sorry I have not been as present lately.

Anyway, I have a client who purchased a Bösendorfer Imperial from me, beautifully reconditioned, just a few years ago. He loves the piano, but would like to offer it to someone for a period of time while he reshuffles his living situation. He is not certain how long he will need to do this.

He is in the Toms River NJ area and, ideally, would like for the piano to be between the Philadelphia and New York metro areas.

For more information, PM me please.

Wow, what an opportunity for a lucky person! If I lived in that region, I'd be all over this!

Does the offer include helicopter delivery? I live in a small apartment on the 29th floor, and the elevator could barely fit my Mason BB(they had to take the lid off to squeeze it in).

Should be roughly 42 days walking distance; but that should be no surprise, since that is the answer to life, the universe and everything.

If I start now tearing down the walls of our living room and building an extension, I wonder whether I can make it in time to accommodate this.

I think just like touch and tone are no separable, space and piano aren't either.

It is a sad thought that I cannot afford an Imperial after all.

Since I live 10 minutes from Toms River and work there, my Baldwin SF-10 wouldn't mind the company. Plus my tech is Cunningham approved.

I live exactly halfway between Philadelphia and NY, and boy is that a good offer, the problem is, isn't that piano nearly 10 feet long? I doubt it could fit in my house.

Yes you can. You just need to work out what you can't fit as a result of having the piano there cool

Between Mark's Baldwin SF-10 and the Bosendorfer Imperial his place should be jumping!

yeah heck, It could fit though the door, and make it to where my other piano is. If mark does not want it (although why not I have no idea) I guess I could house it!

Well after speaking with the owner I decided to not baby sit the piano, due to liability issues. He agreed its a problem and not sure how to address this problem. He had a rider on his home policy, but it does not cover away from home.

That's a standard issue. I don't think there's any insurance policy that will cover those situations. The previous owner of my piano had that issue with the piano he owned previously. He moved his piano to the church where he played and it was destroyed by fire. It was a total loss. His insurance wouldn't may b/c it was moved out of the home and the church's insurance wouldn't pay b/c they didn't own the piano.

Did you check with your homeowners insurance agent? I would think he/she would have a straightforward solution. Most homeowners policies provide coverage for a percentage (10%?) of the personal property limits for items that are off the homeowner's premises. Perhaps that could be increased for a few months.

I had asked my Home Insurance about a piano (not near the cost of the Bosendorfer Imperial, lol). I was told I could add a "rider" that would cover any mishap to the piano. You might want to check your Insurance Company. And it is standard that your policy covers 10% of the value of your home for personal property.

I would think the owner of the Piano would be responsible for the insurance. The insurance should cost much less than monthly storage.

FWIW I get a second-hand (used) value insurance cover of ~$55k with all-risks cover for around $280 a year for my S&S 'D' in the UK
