Not sure if there are many people from Perth here given the international nature of this group.

With the start of 2018, I was thinking a little ahead to this year, and wondered about potentially getting a small network of like minded people together for semi-regular gatherings where we can "geek out" on pianos, have performance opportunities within a friendly / encouraging environment to get some experience performing for other people live.

Having read an article online (link here) which triggered me to think it might be nice to have something similar to this in Perth. Perhaps jointly chipping in to hire out a venue with a piano for a couple of hours.

If you are interested in something like this, please send me your preferred contact and name. I'll start consolidating a list, and if we can gather enough interest, I'll aim to coordinate something of a first meeting.

Still deciding whether I am playing for fun or playing to improve... leaning towards fun :-)

I'd be in it if I was in Perth, but I'm in Adelaide!

I started something like this in the Adelaide Hills, where I live, about 3 years ago. We meet on the last Saturday of the month, and take turns at hosting in members' homes. It is very supportive, social, informal and a great opportunity to get together with like-minded people. The performance standard of members varies, but that is half the fun - when more experienced players can encourage and give hints to the less experienced players. Also, it gives us all a reason to prepare new repertoire!

Best wishes for your new venture. I think that you will find it very rewarding.

Thanks Charles. So far, doesn't seem like there are many people from Perth on this forum. But wait and see I suppose!

I'm just outside Brisbane, still Australia, but a long way between us all.

Alan from Queensland, Australia (and Clara - my Grotrian Concert & Allen Organ (CF-17a)).
