Is this just me? Can anybody else confirm these problems?



Roland HP 605
problems:
(- random shutdown - fixed by Roland technician by replacing parts)
(- random FF notes - improved with firmware upgrade)
- noisy vibration / rattle coming from the keybed.
--- just holding the bottom panel of the keybed lightly will make it stop.
- squeaking coming from the key bed
--- just pressing down on the front panel of the keyboard with the 5th finger will make it squeak!!!

You claim to have these problems, and I believe you. Confirmed.

Lol, Mac! I actually had something else on my mind and refrained from asking, but since you started..

I understand most of the problems, but why would you want to press down on your front panel? (5th finger or otherwise)

And on a serious note - there have been several reports of the switching off, they've fixed it at a manufacturing level a while after the launch (and under warranty for people experiencing this issue). Other than that, I don't remember seeing reports for the other issues you mentioned for any of the hp/lx pianos.

Never have had any of the described issues. I just don't like the modeling.

Same thing happens during playing, I just wanted to simplify the actions that causes it.
My 5th finger is way weaker than the others, probably more than average...
(I do lower the volume on purely mechanical exercises)

@m8118, it's probably best if you raise these concerns with your dealer and/or the Roland distributor in your country.

... was meant to say that your problems surely exist, and that there's no real need for anyone to dispute them.

It seems only natural to assume that a piano ...
- should not randomly shutdown
- should not randomly play FF
- should not make noisy vibrations and rattles
- should not squeak

These are real problems. If I owned this piano I might have the same problems. But what does that mean to you?

Does it matter whether other owners of this piano have such problems?

In the end KJ is right. Get Roland to fix the problems.

I just fixed the problem.
If a forum was a place where people exchange ideas, inquire about problems, and exchange solutions I could leave it here and help others.

PPS check if the piano is correctly supported on all 5 feet...

I have Roland HP 605 almost two years now and my kids play the piano almost every day. I don't think they experienced any of those issues or we noticed those abnormalities.

Just seen this thread for the first time. My piano is older and the one below yours in the range. However, I think the console design is similar. I did have the problem above (but none of the others) when the piano was new. Certain notes played caused noisy vibration. It actually came from the grill behind the keys (containing the control buttons).

I fixed the problem by inserting a soft plastic disposable razor cover between the top B (penultimate note) and the grill. It completely suppressed the rattle, which was a mechanical resonance. That piece of plastic has been there for 7 years - I'd completely forgotten about it.

Problems with rattling and buzzing are really annoying, eh?
It's gratifying when you find a simple solution.
It's surprising that a simple plastic shim has produced a such a long-lasting solution!

Yes. Sometimes, with luck, these kind of cost free workarounds are worth their weight in gold - whatever weight that would be
