Hi, folks,
Does anyone know of a good nickel-plater?
I have someone who does great work; but ever since he did the plating on the train-wreck Bugatti, his ego has grown so large that he ,today, asked me more to plate a set of Steinway pedals and plate than it would cost me to buy new.
The only other option locally is incompetent, and can only manage a pebbley surface.
Help?

Craig

Depending on how often you need to have parts Nickel plated, it might be worth setting up to do it yourself. I set up a while ago for around £180 including an adjustable power source. It took a bit of experimentation to get the setup dialled in, but I was pleased with the results I achieved in the end smile

Started work at the Blüthner piano re-building workshop in Perivale, UK, in 1989. Self employed since 2000. Learning something new about pianos every day... smile

I had Steinway pedals plated for more than they cost new, because my plater was local and did a better job than the thin factory plating that you get from Steinway. But the permits to run a plating business became too much of a burden for him a he grew older, and he no longer does it. There is a company in Oakland, but I do not know the quality of their work. If I needed plating done, I would go there.

The last time I needed to have parts plated, I asked at a local motorcycle shop if they could refer me to someone. They did nice work.
