Hi,

As I'm moving offices, I decided that it's time for a clean up! This includes most, if not all, of my piano scores, that I used when I was a student.

I can't do a catalog right now, but they include Bach preludes and fugue, Anna MAgdalena, 2 voice, 3 voice, etc. Beethoven the sonatas, Mozart the sonatas, various concerti, Scriabin etudes and preludes etc, Grieg, Schumann and what not... Around 200 scores at least!

I would hope to sell them all, as they are (in a medium condition most, and written on a lot but not all), at around £200 + shipping. Personally I think it's excellent value, but would anyone be interested at all?

Other option would be to recycle them.

Or give them to charity.

Thoughts?

Can your kids use them?

If not, what I did with some of mine was donate them to a local music school.

Check out the prices of sheet music on eBay to get a sense of price.... and then list them
Alternatively, you can donate to a library or to a music school

Unfortunately my kids live in Kuwait, so taking them is a very very long stretch... :'(

Dogperson: Thanks. I'll do that!

You mean, they’d have to KuWAIT a long time!

(Rim shot...play me off, someone! Long dramatic stage bow)

I am my own best audience. This also exhausts all of my Kuwait-themed humor. Carry on.

You could make a papier mache bust of Franz Liszt.

My thought is you should keep them and find something else to throw away.

You'll not get money for them, that's for sure. Charities don't want them, unless they run a thrift store. A neighborhood piano academy might take them off your hands.

If I were you, I'd keep a few as mementoes of your musical youth and your formative teachers!

About half of my sheet music came from piano shop corner stacks. In the old days, when a piano was sold to a shop, they often scooped up all the music in and around the piano, and added it to the pile in the corner of the shop (most of it was too tatty to sell). I know that Piano Gallery in Faringdon has such as stack, and I wouldn't be surpised if that's fairly common.

Rather than pulp it all, you could always donate / sell (I doubt) it. I must say these days I tend to download music as .pdf and display it on my computer monitor on the music stand - so never even print it out.

The English may not like music much, but they love the sound it makes ... Beecham

I would definitely donate/give them to a local University's music department or any local music school/store. My Uni has a donation program and I have been very blessed by it to not spend money on scores!
