Hi, thanks for adding me to this group.

When I was a kid my piano teacher had me learn a piece called the Manhattan rhumba. For the life of me I can not find anything about it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find the sheet music? Thx!

Welcome to the forum! Could it have Music by the Manhattan Rhumba orchestra? Here is a link to andante rhumba played by them

Andante rhumba

If you do an Internet search for a Manhattan Rumba (without the h) orchestra you can find other rhumbas. played by them

Sorry I can’t give you a definitive answer, but I hope this might be a lead

This is probably not what you were looking for, but I can't resist this, the only rumba I ever played on the piano, or indeed, any instrument (not that I ever danced it cry):

Tchaikovsky is probably turning in his grave - as the saying goes!

Arthur Benjamin (an Australian) spent most of his life in the UK and BC Canada, and as far as I know any association with Manhatten would have been fairly fleeting.

As it happens, I played the Jamaican Rhumba with Paul Searle-Barnes as teenagers in front of the school so it must be about Grade VIII difficulty at most. I don't think I've played it since, but reminds me just how much I enjoy playing duets.

So I finally found it in a book called “Two for the show. Duets for young pianists” by Marvin Kahn. I think the piece was originally written by David Sorter and Theodore Gargiulo In 1937. Bought the only one I could find on eBay. Talk about a needle in a haystack! Got it though. At least I think so, I’ll see when it gets here. Thx!!
