Since I have had no response from Mr Coltharp to my postal letter or the previous email, I have today filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, using their online system. That's unfortunate for all concerned. I just looked at both articles and find it hard to believe that this is a coincidence. Best,

Thanks for the update. I haven't heard back from my (two) emails either. I mean, he can't be unaware of the situation, can he? You can't run a business without checking your email.

The Better Business Bureau have advised me today by email that "the BBB cannot process your complaint because you are seeking assistance with alleged criminal matters".

The Better Business Bureau have advised me today by email that "the BBB cannot process your complaint because you are seeking assistance with alleged criminal matters". I ran into similar responses from the BBB before. So what's the point of the BBB if they can't assist with matters like this?

I have sent the following reply to the BBB: Dear Jesse,
Thank you very much for your very prompt reply. Thank you for the link regarding copyright. It is a subject that I formerly taught in college, and I am familiar with the terms of US and UK copyright law, and reciprocal arrangements between the countries.
While copyright infringement is technically a crime, it is not an area, especially in the small scale, in which the police are likely to be interested. By contrast however, I should have thought that the BBB might take an interested in this as an ethical area.
As it is, it seems that the BBB is uninterested in copyright violation by Members. From the ethical business point of view, considering the motto of the BBB, this seems puzzling to me.
Yours sincerely,
David Boyce.

Dear David, without wanting to go into detail at this point, you may see some movement shortly on this issue with regard to citing of sources on the offending website...

The BBB is largely worthless. They serve their member businesses, not the public. Useless.

The plot is thickening so much as to become quite high-viscosity.
I received an email this morning from a Mr Andrew Osterberg, who writes more-or-less gobbledygook, in my view, and fails to make clear quite what his relation is to the matter in hand.
And this evening I have received an email from Mr Coltharp which starts "Dear Mr Jones" and goes on to make an accusation of "harsh words of harassment" and that he was "unaware of this incident" and that "I will also work to monitor your threats to decide on our next course of action"
At the bottom is the email address of a Mr Jones, with Mr Jones's email (to which Mr Coltharp is evidently replying) trimmed off.
I do not know who Mr Jones is, or how he has been threatening or harassing Mr Coltharp, or why Mr Coltharp should write to me about it.
I also don't know how Mr Coltharp could be "unaware of this incident", if the incident he refers to is the copyright violation, since I emailed him about it on 28 April 2018, and then wrote by snailmail on 13 May.

Looks like the offending webpage has been taken down. Kees

DoelKees, thank you for letting me know about the page being removed.
DanS, you are so eagle-eyed, spotting those other pages! I did not choose to confront regarding the jar-of-water, because it has been enough re-written that I think a copyright infringement claim would not stand up, unlike the stringing page.
I emailed the sticky keys people some days ago to let them know that their work had been copied, but didn't get any reply.
The 'Benefits of Piano Playing' appears originally to have been a Baldwin 'advertorial' and I doubt that Baldwin nowadays would pursued the matter. It's a bit icky not to give any attribution though.
The IDEA for the future-now-technology page has obviously come from that Australian website, but the text on Mr Colthard's page is sufficiently different, I think, to stand as an original work in its own right. There is no copyright in IDEAS.
