Don't miss the historic ABF Recital #50! That's 12 1/2 years of recitals every 3 months!

Submissions will open May 1st, and two weeks later the recital will go "live".

All you need to participate is an mp3 recording of your playing - for details, see recitals.pianoworld.com.

Are you ready?

Sam

Yipee! I am ready.

I'll be playing a piece I first heard at one of our recitals in 2010 and absolutely fell in love with smile

It's the second "biggie" on my list of dream pieces to be studied and performed.

How great to have such a milestone piece ready to play in such a milestone recital. I'm looking forward to hearing it!

Has anyone recorded yet? I did one pass last night but froze 3/4 of the way through on a section I know perfectly. Really annoyed me so I gave it a rest.

Well, Laurie (my wife the clarinetist) and I had a wonderful opportunity - we played in the local hospital atrium. Very nice piano, lots of echoes and reverb, curious people walking by to distract me. She was great, I wasn't. I recorded it, but am not happy with it, so we may have to try again in the privacy of our own home...

I am doing a piece that has been on my wish list for a while. All I need is a rainy day to set the mood grin... Hopefully I will get it recorded this week.

I've been ready my whole life!!! Bring it on!!! smile

Can't believe I've been doing these recitals for 12 years. Now if only I could still play even 1/10th of what I played. Sigh.

Some of us did that, back in recital #40 - I played the first piece I ever played back in recital #13 - didn't sound any better the second time!

I started on my piece about a month ago, so I am ahead of schedule. I dare say that this time I will be less unprepared than ever before! cry

I'll do a recording the weekend of the 28th. That's pretty good for me considering I usually wait until it's closer to the deadline. 3 potential pieces to choose from. I'll decide that weekend.

I got two o' my own, one to goon hear, the other on the piano bar. When I've learnt how to play 'em . . .Can't even play my own songs!
Believe it or not, it's more difficult to play these when you've written them down in stone metaphorically.

Ah, Raindrop.....I was wondering what to put in my 'on deck' circle, maybe that'll be it. Such a powerful piece! That or the Tiersen Amelie piece. Still a month away; gotta get through the Bach first.

I recorded last week. Little time so I did two recordings and chose the best one. My piano was tuned recently but spring kicked in hard smile so it's already de-tuning :-/

I've got a recording that I'm relatively happy about, I'm going to take another shot at it this weekend to see if I can get a better one. I really like this piece so no matter what, I'll enjoy the effort.

I've narrowed down my "three pieces in varying stages of unreadiness" to "two pieces in varying pieces of unreadiness and one piece there's no chance in heck I can get it polished in time." laugh So I guess that's progress. Alas, the one I don't have any chance of polishing was the only Einaudi piece of the bunch, so I may have to submit something other than Einaudi for the Big 50 Recital. The horror!

I think this is just your first offense in quite a while. You will probably just get a slap on the wrist, or, at worst, receive a very short sentence in Einaudi prison. shocked They probably have pianos there! laugh

I've a fair idea what it is going to be, more than likely Satie. There again, whatever else roles out of the recorder between now and then. On a bit of the easier Debussy couple o' pieces trip at the moment ( if there is such a thing as easier Debussy, no there isn't at my level ) but there is always the Debussy recital for that as well,. After taking a break from the last recital I am ready to roll.

I may even have a new piano too by then approaching that date at some point to throw a spanner in the works to get used to for a bit. laugh

I keep saying I'll play in a recital here sooner or later and I never get around to working out how to record my acoustic piano in the awful room it's in. So maybe the 50th will motivate me. I mean, how hard can it be right? ....

If I do get my act together and work out recording (which I know how to do - I'm just sooooooo lazy about setting it up) then I'd be submitting Beethoven. It's a huge stretch for me to play it so I have some fallbacks in case it doesn't work out but it's close now. I'm supposed to play that one plus a nocturne (op 9, 1) at my teacher's recital just before the ABF one would go live so if it works out there maybe that'll motivate me to record it. Maybe. wink
