Hi. Do you own a Venta? How long has it lasted?

I purchased a Venta LW45 and am wondering how long it may last and remain troublefree. I’ve had some good info from from PW members in a different thread (thanks, everyone) 😊 but that thread was geared towards recommendations for types of humidifiers, however. The purpose of this thread is to specifically ask about Venta longevity.

If you have a Venta please consider chiming in by sharing:

1-Your Venta Model#

2-How long you’ve owned it

3-If you’ve had problems with it not working properly:

“No” if you’ve had no problems. (You’re done if you answer “No”)

“Yes” if you’ve experienced problems.

4-If You Answered “Yes” because you’ve had a problem, it will be super helpful if you would kindly:

*Describe the problem/issue

*Let us know if you’ve had luck having it repaired

*Who performed the repair, how much it cost, if the repair lasted

*Any other info you deem helpful.

I’m not sure how much of a response to expect, hopefully a fair one (we PW members tend to stick together and watch out for each other 😊 so here’s hoping) and with most PW members reporting that their Venta lasts a good while and are reasonably trouble free.

Per The Moody Blues (my favorite band from the Classic 7 Albums), I’ll be

“Watching and Waiting…”

Jeanne:

With all due respect: It seems a little odd to me that someone who purchased a product is now concerned enough about its longevity and possible function issues to poll users of the product.

I currently have three Venta Airwashers:

LW24 (now the LW25): The oldest one I have has been running for well over a decade, perhaps more than 15 years. I bought it in the US a few years before I retired (I can't remember exactly when), and I retired in 2005. I replaced the snap-in replacement plastic gear box four or five years ago, and it is still running smoothly. The gear box was clicking and close examination showed that the gear box was not rotating the discs.

LW15: The smallest Airwasher purchased in 2015; still running smoothly.

LW25: The most recent Airwasher also purchased in 2015; still running smoothly.

The LW15 is a replacement for an older model the same size which was bought before the LW24. After 15 years (or more?) the motor stopped working and it was easier to replace it with a newer model than to try to ship it to the US from Canada for service.

Regards,

BruceD

Bruce D:

Thank you for the detailed info which is helpful.

Regarding your comment:

“With all due respect: It seems a little odd to me that someone who purchased a product is now concerned enough about its longevity and possible function issues to poll users of the product.”

I think I understand where you’re coming from and I thought twice about starting this new thread but thought “what the heck, it should be OK”. Granted it’s a bit late at this point to be asking this question, I’ve already bought a Venta and I’m happy with it so far. The low-down is I am a detail oriented fuss-budget who digs into things who likes to be well-informed.

I'm not sure how much of a response my post will receive, but I thought it worth a try to see what happens.

I have a Venta LW14, bought it years ago (I don't remember the exact year), and it works fine. Except that it's maybe a bit small for my living room, which is 24 m² big and 2m50 high.

Everything is possible, and nothing is sure.

Jeanne,

How do you like the lw 45? I'm thinking of buying one like yours or one of the models with a humidistat. Do you find you have sufficient control over the humidity level?

Thanks!

From what I have heard (I don't own one) they are the best!

I have an LW45 and consider it an amazing product. It is designed and manufactured in Germany, and the design is clever and simple. It keeps the humidity in my piano room very steady, and is nearly silent when operating. On really cold, dry days I increase the speed to the 3 setting, but during most of the winter 2 is just fine. The product does not have the calcium build-up problem of other humidifiers, but you do need to clean it properly to keep mold out of the system. Because it is designed so well, it is easy to disassemble the humidifier to clean most of the parts with a light brush and hot water. You can see how to disassemble the parts by watching any of the YouTube videos that describe how to clean a Venta humidifier, but I reserve this thorough work for the end of the season.. The one thing you cannot clean by hand is the rotating wheel component, but this is easy to clean two or three times during the season. For that, I put it in the dishwasher at normal hot temperature suitable for Tupperware or similar products. My Venta has been running for nearly ten years and I have had no problem with it. It does not appear to have the built-in obsolescence problem of cheaper humidifiers.

Thanks Numerian. Where do you live? I'm in Minnesota - very cold and dry in the winter. What humidity level are you able to maintain in winter?

I'm in the Chicago area. It can get bone dry here, and indoor radiator heating makes it even worse.
