Hello.

Received my N3X this week and I have a question regarding the Soft-pedal (the one to the left).
I am not able to hear any difference what so ever when hitting keys with the pedal down compared to pedal up.
Even got 2 others to try it as well and they agree.
Anyone using or tried it who can confirm that it should work? (reduce volume and soften the attack)

I have checked with Midi-ox that the pedal is transmitting the correct Midi events when pressing and releasing the pedal. (down=127, up=0)
I have also run the Self-check test #5 on the the Soft-pedal and it shows PAS.
Also did a factory reset, test #44.
Still no joy.
Checked my SW versions and they are 1.01/1.00 & 03.3.

Have sent a mail to my dealer about this, but would love to hear from other users regarding this.

Cheers.

Hello OMR, welcome to the forum.

The effectiveness of the soft pedal can be rather subtle on digital pianos. Some instruments allow the extent to which notes are softened to be adjusted if the default settings are considered too subtle.

It may also be easier to hear the effect of the software pedal using headphones, instead of the built-in speakers, and some piano sounds may have a more noticeable softening effect than others.

Kind regards,
James

Thank you for your warm welcome James.

We did in fact use headphones as well (Senn HD650), but tried only voice #1, the CFX samples.
My dealer came back to me today saying my case was relayed to Yamaha Germany. Will hopefully hear from them soon.
In the mean time, I'll check out some of the other instruments/voices.

Kind regards
Ole
