The simplest view of it is that all those parentheses mean they're losing money.

According to Allpianos.com the Baldwin Brand is still owned by Gibson.

There are many websites that will tell you that the Baldwin brand is owned by Gibson. Assessing their credibility is problematic.Websites are not always updated promptly, for instance, so a change may not be noted until much later than it happens. I believe that Gibson still owns Baldwin due to the lack of any official announcement, not because of what is on an unofficial website.

If there is a new owner, or will be a new owner, I wonder if they will continue to list the unavailable Artist models on the website.

If the parent company is having problems, then I suspect that both Baldwin Pianos and Gibson Guitars are viable entities on their own, and will survive any sort of re-org or fire sale.

I'm no financial guru, but I believe it's not uncommon for secrecy (media blackout) before a possible bankruptcy for major corporations. Generally the public is the last to know with that.
Does look as if they are selling (doesn't say "sold") Baldwin...

Gibson is desperately trying to make ends meet - selling its Baldwin piano brand and hiring investment bank Jeffries to assist.

Wonder who will get Baldwin. I do think that even though the current environment in the US manufacturing and regulatory world is ripe for someone to make a try here in the USA--- and it would be nice to see it happen---- is there a robust enough demand in the US market for pianos?

Edit:
Just for your consumption-- the numbers are pretty bleak
USA Piano sales are basically on life-support I'd say:

They sell a ton of guitars, amps, drums, PA systems and other musical instruments though. And, their prices are competitive with the biggest and best music retailers in the business, including Guitar Center.

My son, who is a very good guitarist, was visiting the store recently. He told me one of the owners of the shop said the main-stream manufacturers, like Gibson, Fender, etc... were requiring them to order and stock larger and larger inventories of instruments in order to keep the dealership of the brand. Keep in mind, the size of this store is probably like 30' X 60' total. That is 1800 square feet, and not all of it showroom floor space. It's difficult to keep $250,000 worth of one brand of guitars, amps or other in that small of a space. They've been around a long time, and I've bought several nice musical instruments from them over the years. I hope they can stay in business and maintain the dealerships for the top brands of instruments.

I did not see where the article mentioned it's (Gibson's) subsidiary, Baldwin pianos.
