Recently a lot has been discussed regarding the women's role in the arts industries. In fact, despite the arts industry be viewed as a more open mind world than the rest of the industries, it is still a big challenge to recognize female artists.

Women and Music in 19th Century is a project that focus on the role of the female artist during the 19th Century and their struggles to be recognized as artists. This series contains five parts that will be posted weekly.

This first part of the series talks about the music scene in the 19th century and how female artists were perceived in general by it.
