I've been working on "Nice Work If You Can Get It".
The harmonies and chord changes are awesome.
I know it's not classical music, but the chords are classic.

Czerny's Piano School Vol. 1, now at #77 and giving it a break.

Every week I receive a newsletter about classical music. Very interesting, about composers, performers etc. This week I found something of the unknown Don Ignazio Cirri, an Italian baroque composer: Sonatas, written for organ (manual) but also fine for piano.

My favourite at this moment.....Sonata nr 3, G minor. Beautiful Larghetto, followed by an Allegro, powerful melody line and subtle 1/16 sentences. Last part a nice Andante......I like to share it....

Sonatas Cirri 3hearts

(It's 23.53h.....but I will play it before I go to sleep grin)

What did you play today?

Best regards,
Johan B

Beethoven Op 14 No 2 practice to regain memory of this piece. Tomorrow Chopin Waltz Op 34r no 2. Things are coming along better than expected.

Always working to improve "Chopsticks". I'll never give up on it.

Just saw the Telemann suite that Johann posted link to and copied to Fourscore.

Wishing I could find Baroque keyboard for duet, but not arrangements. Any suggestions.

Few days ago copied Bach Inventions to Fourscore. Ive decided to give my brain a workout on these. I mostly avoid is music like the plague, even though I love the sounds. Somehow sightreading Bach gets my brain all twisted up!!!

Rach Prelude 23/4. I’m trying to get it in reasonable shape to play in mid-February. Why do I always leave the hardest section for last?

Recently started the Schubert Impromptu that is a theme and variations. For now I’m playing just the theme and 1 variation. This is a more straight-forward and joyful piece than the Rachmaninov. Yin and Yang.

I worked on the Allemande from the J.S. Bach French Suite in G. I have been trying for years to play Bach's music but, as Isabelle1949 says, you can't read or learn it hastily, so my efforts were always full of mistakes.

This time round I covered up everything except for the first half-measure and made myself take no notice of any notes other than the ones in the half measure. I played this many times, making sure I was completely accurate in the articulation and making sure I hit the correct notes always (or very almost always!). Once this half measure was ingrained I rewarded myself with another note.

It seemed as though this method would take forever, but it was surprisingly quick! It took me around three or four weeks to learn the whole piece, and with a huge amount more accuracy, awareness and nimbleness than I have come close to previously. It really made me focus minutely on technical and musical problems. It is definitely not perfect, but it is far better than I have every played Bach before.

Isabelle1949, what is Fourscore? (please excuse my ignorance!).

Johan B, thank you for posting your interesting links.

Pianopl, forScore is a free app (I think it was free or very inexpensive) that you can copy music to from the web. Most of what I find is at Petrucci or IMSLP. It is really a good app for me anyway.

Worked on my oldie, Beethoven op 14 no 2. The two agains three in first movement almost 100% back in my fingers and brain, so excited. Tomorrow Chopin op 34 no 2, need to get that one back too. Before long, Schuman and Mozart oldies. I need to find more time for duet music practice!!!

Today, Mozart Rondo D Major, Mozart K 501, secondo, Beethoven Op 14 no 2 first mvt through 2 against 3. 5 finger scales, hands together with cadences. Total time about 1 hour 45 min. Wishing I had another 2 or 3 hours later today to practice. Time is precious and there is never enough!!!

Mmmm......for a long time I was not here.....

Last two days I played Haydn Piano sonatas and music from this book....
Haydn, Piano pieces II

In this book among others the Sonatas 'The last seven words of our Redeemer', nice to play these days. You can feel the suffering of Christ.
Haydn, The last seven words

But also nice menuets: 12 Menuette Hob IX:11 and parts of Symphonys and Stringkwartets.

What did you play today?

Best regards,
Johan B

Johann B, I'm playing Techinic is Fun Book 5-woohoo-I always liked these books and this series I learned as a child. I have been playing a Bob Seger Collection which has two kinds of music, two kinds of bass which is really interesting. I only play a little bit lately. It will kick in again, later. Linda

In the book I told you some days ago I saw some works of Johann Ludwig Krebs. I decided to look at IMSLP.org if there was more.....and yes there was....
