Thanks. I make handmade books and boxes, so this was a cinch.

If books do start sliding off, it would be very easy to glue a strip of board (or acrylic) along the front of the ledge as a stop. I'm hoping I won't need to, but I haven't tried some of the big floppy books yet.

Hi Bill, you tucked that piano nicely in the available space. I have read, however, that sunshine and acoustic pianos don't mix well, to the detriment of the pianos; you might want to treat your windows to keep sunshine off the August Förster 190. It will thank you, in a manner befitting the instrument.

Bill,

That is absolutely beautiful - I agree that direct sunlight is not good for the pianos. But, that open window and the view must make it so much 'enjoyable' to play.

Thank you all. I have curtains to cover the windows in the winter, when the sun angle is low. It's the first thing my technician told me!

I believe it was built in 1989 or 90. It has DDR on the frame, so at least that much was cast before the reunification.

I have been without internet for 48 hours. The guys came to fix it today.

One of them asked if he could have his photo taken in my music room. How bizarre.

I let him do it, just specified that it should not appear on any social media. The idea of being on faecesbook is anathema to me.

I have had this Rösler upright since years, and I still love it. I will buy a grand for sure in some time, though.

And yes - I didnt show the room since its a mess right now haha.
Also, I love to play the piano in the darkness. Much more fun and dramatic to me smile

It depends on the environment, the humidity might be good if it's dry otherwise.
