I go to my piano lesson directly after I give one of my own lessons. It’s about a 5 minute walk. To get home takes about 7 minutes - again, walking.
I like this aspect of my small town life!

Actually there was a studio behind my house, I selected the studio based on proximity. My travel time is about 1 minute by foot. Best choice I ever made, the teacher is great. I have been taking for about 4 years. When I first started, I did not know much and what to look for in a teacher. If the studio ever closed I would look for a teacher based on qualifications.

I'm lucky to have a great teacher on the island I live on, so I don't have quite the commute that PianogirlNW has (though I do have the pleasure of taking a ferry to work, which is a thoroughly enjoyable way to commute.) Anyway, it's a 10 minute drive, and traffic isn't really a thing here.

3 days of lessons with an "s" and rehearsal time with my music group in church across town 40m one way. 1 day of instruction with a teacher about 1 1/2h one way. And then 2 separate days of class on piano pedagogy 4h sessions each 25m one way. Takes a lot of time traveling around that can be used for practice at home instead.

I ride a bike everywhere so it depends on where I’m coming from. If that’s work, my lesson is about 15 minutes away. If home, less than 5. I live in the beating heart of my city though so most of the things I need for life are very close.

For me it's a grueling three minute commute through a subdivision at break-neck speeds reaching 25 miles per hour. When I get to her home I have to parallel park on the street in front of her house. Oh the humanity! And did I mention the traffic? Why, I must have passed three cars when I was there. wink

My piano teacher comes to my house. I pay a bit extra to cover his travel expenses, but he doesn't have to come far. I was in two minds about taking on a teacher after so many years of doing for myself, and if I had to travel I probably would not have bothered.

Wow, a little bit of everything to make it to the lesson!

My 20-minute drive used to include a stretch of freeway and, not infrequently, slowdowns that left me frazzled before I even got to the lesson. Now I take the "back way" and don't have to worry about freeway traffic, but I do have to pay a little more attention to those pesky speed limits on the roads I take. wink

I drive to my teacher's house (where her studio is located), which is about 25-30 minutes away based on traffic.

I time-travel 200 years to take lessons from Beethoven. He's kind of a jerk though.

I hope you're following his instructions. It's important to obeythoven.

I do the same with Czerny, but he's easier to get along with.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

Remember, it's the Czerny that counts, not the destination.

When I was an urban dweller, it used to be a three-minute drive, or a pleasant 10 minute walk. One of my summertime teachers lived even closer.

Alas, now I am out in the boonies, 40+ miles away from The City ha and it takes nearly an hour. The roads are wide and uncongested, and I can't complain about the scenery. The commute back home takes three hours, as I stop along the way to take a walk and also do some shopping.

My previous teacher was teaching in a music school a few minutes away from a train station between home and work, so after work I would get into the same train I would take to go home, but get off a few stations earlier. After the lesson, rather than taking the train for the remaining three stops, I would walk. Walking back took about 30~40 minutes. I did this for 4 years.

Now, with my current teacher, I walk to her home. She is 10 minutes away from mine. Our neighbor recommended her when we were looking for a teacher for my daughter.

Between 15 and 30 minutes. It's Saturday afternoon and traffic is unpredictable. The dry cleaners/shirt laundry is in the same neighborhood, so I stop there before my lesson on light traffic days and after my lesson if traffic slowed me down.
