Has anybody seen the actions in the CP4/CP40 identified as those actions? I hadn't.

I ran across what looks like part of a service manual for the Yamaha CP4/CP40. I've always thought that Yamaha used generic terms for their actions, but the reality was more subtle since they keep using the same terms year after year. Here's what the actions are listed as:

"Keyboard" (not sure what model this is supposed to refer to.)
GH keyboard type
White key
Rubber contact

CP4
NW GKS
Natural Wood (synthetic ivory keytops)
3 contacts

CP40 stage
GHD LKS
-
(Resin)
2 contacts

I googled and found some references to these actions in their technical manuals, but not in their FAQ about actions.

I haven't heard of this terminology but your theory on unannounced, running revisions makes sense.

One thing, it looks to me that the "keyboard" entry you think references a specific model might actually be the legend instead?

Keyboard: cp4
GH type: nw gks
White key: natural wood
Rubber contact: 3 contacts

It was three columns on the page - the first column is a separate entry from the CP4 and CP40 columns. Just kind of hard to format that way for a post.

Right. I'm just saying that first entry is probably just the description, or legend, that tells you what each row is referring to. So it's not meant to be a mystery keyboard, it is just saying "every entry you see to the right will be the keyboard name."

Edit: i know you undoubtedly know how to read a common chart, the way you wrote it just made it look like it was a separate entry. No offense intended!

Perhaps I don't know how to read a common chart. Looking at it again, I'm now sure you are correct - thanks for spotting that. (I'm going to leave my post as-is or people will be even more confused.) I found a link to the same doc, but I know there have been issues here in the past when people link to stuff that isn't officially released by the manufacturer. Google something like "Yamaha CP4 NW GKS" and you'll find it.
