I'm so happy I have three more months to prepare! I have learned most of the piece, but would really like to have it down....I suspect it may take longer to make it musical than it did to learn it.

I've been doing the EdX online study of preludes and am working on Debussy La fille aux cheveux de lin. My teacher has discouraged me even trying it. But of course, I'm not listening to that but taking my time learning it phrase by phrase. I don't think I'll have it ready by June but my heart is on this list.

The latest issue of Pianist magazine has several Debussy pieces in it. Below is a link to one of the videos (La fille aux cheveux de lin)

Yes that's the piece I'm working on.....just about ready smile. Tough piece. Lots of big chords, so so beautiful though. I'll have to watch that video.

I know we are in the midst of the big 50th ABF Quarterly, but don't forget the Debussy Themed Recital, which will open for submissions in 2 weeks and go live in about a month!

Damned, I should have submitted my Debussy here instead of in the 50th. :P

If only it could wait until next year! I'll be practicing Golliwog cake walk!

Yes I thought I had my piece ready until I turned on the metronome. frown My piece doesn't lend it self to playing in time though with a lot of ritardando markings, but I'm trying to pick up the pace anyway.

This is a good excuse for me to revisit Arabesque 1 and see if I can get it recordable, though given my failure to get my chosen piece over the line for the 50th I'm not entirely confident :-)

Yes, hopefully people can find us in our new subforum!

I may be bringing up the rear in this recital. Doing Footprints in the Snow and its 90 degrees and humid here! Maybe if I stick my feet in some ice water...

Not posting here because I can play a Debussy -- so far beyond my present level! smile Just want to comment though that even though I know this subforum is here, I forget to even look here although back when these threads were on the main ABF forum, I'd check them regularly. It might be that having the recital threads in the main ABF forum and crowding other threads might have been the lesser evil then "going to the mountaintop". Anyways, just my two cents...

I always use the followed lists -feature...just had to go and mark the new subforum as well.

I'm sorry to miss the recital but never played any Debussy...
I guess the closest thing to impressionism that I have ever played is Scriabin smile
