Hello all, Im new here but have read from time to time..i recently inherited an upright piano from my grandmother and am trying to find out a little bit about it. The inside says Hudson although I can't seem to find anything on the internet about this brand. I did find a serial number (264315) if that means anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Hudson, made by Wellsmore and Jacob Doll None of the six digit serials start with 2,They stop in 1931 at number 181000.Looks like they were big in stenciling pianos. They made: Stodart Fredrick,
Wellsmore and Shattinger,Hudson,Lakewood,Baus,Briggs,Cambrige,
Gabler,Hallet and Davis,Duerk,Faber,and seven more.

What condition is it in? That is the major factor in its value to someone else. Does it play or hold a tune? How tall is it? Many uprights that old are given away for free when the owner needs the space.

Cosmetically, it's in pretty good shape, it does have one somewhat sticky key though and it plays pretty well although a little out of tune. It is also 3 feet tall. So I shouldn't even bother trying to sell it is what you are trying to say?

Three feet tall????

That would be at the very shortest height of the spinets. How many keys does it have? Some of the very small verticals have a demand in the collectable market. Don't loose hope yet. I don't know if this manufacturer made "miniatures", but it will be interesting to find out.

I also have a Hudson, has anyone found anymore about them. I talked to a piano dealer and he said it’s most like an American post World War II piano of poor quality.

Where is the number you found? Usually serial numbers on uprights are inside near the top around where the tuning pins are.

Could you post some pictures?
