I'm already plotting the quickest walking route to the Yamaha booth in the morning. Have my badge already. Then over to Kawai. Hope I'm not disappointed...

Hi!

I had a bunch of exams in school these two weeks (there are just 2 for next week, so I will have more practice time) I hope I haven't missed out on too much since I posted my first piece at the start of this month. But, now the good news: I have brought with me some new pieces. I have to say that they aren't seamless, but, I hope you guys enjoy it! This is stuff I learned in the span of a little over 3 and half months.

Piece 2: Arabesque by Burgmüller - https://youtu.be/-0ME5XWbg3g

Piece 3: Valse du Petit Chien by Chopin - https://youtu.be/7AazLP2UwXI

Piece 4: Für Elise by Beethoven - https://youtu.be/36ObYzUfRcs

Piece 5: Valse de L'adieu by Chopin - https://youtu.be/3vjM0ijvQME

Yes I am! I'm pretty much finished Watchman's Song, but I'm going to polish it a bit before adding it to my list. Just started learning the next one, the Elf Dance - that one is going to be a speed challenge!

Here's an update to my list:

1. Bach: Prelude in C major, BWV 924
2. Grieg: Lyric Pieces, op. 12 no. 2, Waltz
3. Clementi: Sonatina in G, op. 36 no 2, mmt. 1
4. Clementi: Sonatina in G, op. 36 no. 2, mmt. 2

There are a couple others that are getting close, but need a little extra polishing. The Bach Prelude in D minor BWV 926 is surprisingly challenging, especially at the end where there's this super-fast arpeggiated pattern. I've been working on that one all month!

Hi, I haven't been on piano world for a good 10 years so I don't really remember how this all works. But I would like to join this 40 pieces a year group.

I am a early intermediate level, does anyone know what number level that would be? As far as looking up pieces that I might be able to conquer in a week..... Eeeeks......

This will be a huge challenge for me considering I don't think i have ever completed a piece since my teacher moved away. I am hoping that this might get me to follow through on some pieces that I find.

So, please add me in.

Thank you, KaylaX

That would be right around grade 4, so you're probably best of if the majority of what you learn is grade 1-3. I've made a list here in which I specify up to a grade 5 / intermediate level. I'd recommend picking things from the various beginner categories.

I've started playing January 2017, Nothing is too easy is where I keep track of my progress.

Thank you Keselo for your response and your list of music suggestions. That was my next task to take on was to find some music to play. I have some music here at home, but most of it has been a challenge. I have heaps of stuff I have printed, attempted, and then thrown aside.

Ok, time to get to work before my kids come home.

Good luck to me, and Good Luck to all !!!

Another Tim Richards piece from me. I am working on other pieces too, so I'll have some variety in the list soon I hope! Working through the exercise piece in this book gels really well with this challenge for me. This one was good fun, and the improv section came together more easily this time than in the first piece (as with that, the first section is as written on the sheet, the next section is improv in the RH, then the opening section repeats)

1. Blue Third Blues - Tim Richards
2. New Orleans Triplet Workout - Tim Richards
3. Five Finger Blues - Tim Richards link

Hi, Please sign me up for a challenge.
I already started 40 pieces challenge myself.
I actually register in pianoworld for this.
(Encouraged by Allysia-Piano TV, Thank you)
I’ll try to post updates regularly- this might be my harder part for me.
I have completed a few pieces I’ll post it in the morning.
Thank you.

What a great idea and incentive this is. Thank You all and to Allysia (Piano TV) for recommending it. As an adult beginner, I cant guarantee that I will succeed but here goes with my first piece !

Henry Purcell Minuet in A minor

The more streamlined we can make this thread, the easier it will be for Scorpio to keep the master list updated!

Thank you for the comment! I am new here and I guess I felt a little insecure, that `s why I posted, also when I wasn`t able to finish a piece in a week. I guess I tend to put a little too much pressure on myself. In the future I`ll post only when the piece is done and try to take things a little easier. smile

Please count me in! I'm another encouraged to join by Allysia's Piano TV. Although I knew of this challenge, I didn't think it was for me, but after listening to her recent video about it, I changed my mind. Plus, I'm pretty sure she was using Jedi mind tricks or something! wink

I'm also going to claim my first piece:

1. Petzhold, Minuet in G, from Notebook for Anna Magdalena

No recordings yet, but it's one of my goals for the year to start doing some.

Welcome elenmirie! Also check out the quarterly recitals they have here. That will give you chance to do recordings as well. Not everyone provides recordings for the 40 piece challenge, it's not necessary. The idea is to keep looking at new stuff throughout the year, as opposed to working on just a few pieces and trying to perfect them.
