Hey there. Ok so long story short. I'm in a secret santa mix tape/CD gift exchange group and the person I pulled from the hat is a piano player like myself. I remember recently having a conversation with this person about the rhythm in Billy Joel's "movin out" and we are both a fan of the style.

So what I'd like to do is make a mix tape(CD) of these types of songs. The only problem is I'm having a hard time finding enough examples.

Basically it's a straight 4/4 time signature with the piano playing steady chords on the 8th notes. The Billy Joel tune is around 130bpm but it can be slower or faster.

These are a few other examples:

"logical song" by Supertramp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukKQw578Lm8

"I love L.A." Randy Newman https://youtu.be/KcADqxnQA_4?t=48s

"All the Way From Memphis" Mott the Hoople https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubBpu3MHmtM

There are also a few more Billy Joel songs that fit the bill

Any help would be much appreciated

A few that seem to fit the bill:

"Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bndf5HBylj8

"Not the Same" by Ben Folds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl0XcOexMgk

"Suzie Lightning" by Warren Zevon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pgn_xMvm-gk

A few where the piano is more in the background, or gets phased out later in the song:

"How the Day Sounds" by Greg Laswell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n05xWQLYPOI

"Hello It's Me" by Todd Rundgren https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLeCB7Kn-VE

"Love is Like Oxygen" by Sweet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRVwcPTnug8
