No, the photo shows 3 EinAudi's - the ad says "Ein Audi lässt sich mit nichts vergleichen" so you can't accumulate them smile

Yes nice joke

I do not mean to be bossy, but German is my mother tongue. "Ein Audi" in German means "one Audi" or "an Audi" or "an Audi car". The image, which is an advertisement for the Audi model "A1" (pronounced "A Eins" in German) shows three cars of this model, thus, 3 Audis (I wonder if that is the correct plural in English) or 3 Audi models A1 (and not "Audi's" - the plural never gets an apostrophe - nor "3 EinAudis" which would mean "Three One Audis" in English which is nonsense). The slogan says "Nothing compares to an Audi A1, not even another Audi A1", so there are other A1 models existing, and they can be "accumulated".

And now everyone should return to the original topic of this thread which is the call for recital submissions. A joke on a composer's name should not be overstretched.

I'd say it's official now, Monica. Future general recitals may contain at most Einaudi submission.

The deadline is the 14th at 9PM Eastern US time zone.

Its not a good idea to try to cut it too close - people have missed the deadline by minutes in the past. Remember that Monica is a volunteer, and whatever she decides is final. Plus there is always some uncertainty about time zones...

What he said. laugh

UK (currently ranked 5th) is playing Kansas (ranked 4th) tomorrow night at 9:30 in college basketball action, so I'm going to try to get as much done on the recital promptly at 9:00 and then come back and finish at half time. Unless we are getting slaughtered (that #5 ranking is based purely on a bunch of inexperienced one-and-done freshmen), and it's too depressing to watch any more. laugh

Woohoo!

I'm in at 47! smile

I went back and looked at the list of submissions, and saw a lot of new faces, along with so many repeat offenders who I love listening to. grin More than anything, I was struck by the breadth of composers represented. This recital promises to be a real gem. I am anxious to listen.

Look, all those composers are eating healthy. You can't fight your changing metabolism.

I must be thick-headed (as many before have told me cry), but, your comment has gone completely over my head. At the risk of ruining a good joke, can you explain it to me (this is embarrassing). crazy Or, maybe wait until others have had a chance to play, then, explain it to me later! grin

Now, I think I must have told you this a hundred times by now, but it's not polite to comment on someone's weight, much less our beloved composers.

Ahem, can you submit two pieces that are completely unrelated? Unless there's some connection that I'm missing.

I don't think there's a problem sinophelia. As long as the mp3 is below 20 mins! It could be Einaudi combined with a Purcell piece laugh

From the instructions:

Only one recording may be submitted per forum member (although that recording may consist of a medley of two or more very short related pieces).

So are they related? Are they very short?

Well Chopin played Bach regularly, so I guess there's a connection laugh

Might be better to have a 5 min time limit for submissions instead . . . or as well!

Looking at piano primo's submission, the two pieces together are only 3:28 long, so that seems well within the spirit of the guidelines even if a convention of music theorists could argue as to how "related" Chopin and Bach are. laugh

I'd be a little uncomfortable setting a strict time limit, as there are some excellent pieces that are longer than 5 minutes, or 6 or 7... Of course, people who submit long pieces run the risk of others giving up and not listening all the way through, but that's up to them if they want to risk it. I'm okay leaving the current size restriction as is.

We need to be self-policing - I don't think anyone wants to be the judge. So read the guidelines and decide for yourself - that's why I posted the relevant part.

Well, I was going to sit out for this recital, but for some reason this morning when I woke up, I decided it would be a shame to break the streak of being in every recital so far since I discovered this great forum.

So, 30 minutes ago, I started recording what I am currently working on... and emphasis needs to be put on "working on" smile... Only barely learnt the notes, possibly not too much expression yet, lots of hesitation and ghosted notes... converted it to mp3 and submitted it with 5 minutes of the deadline. Talk about barely making it!

Its also on my new Feurich 218 (2017), which I've spent a bit of time regulating, tuning and I even went as far as voicing a few notes... I suspect the guys on the Technicans Forum are sick of my silly beginner questions, but I **think** I haven't ruined anything (yet).

Looking forward to hearing all the submissions.

Still deciding whether I am playing for fun or playing to improve... leaning towards fun :-)
