Trying to imagine how this might be implemented in software. Seems possible. New document opens as a grand staff. Up and down arrows move from one ledger line to another.

I know a choral composer who used a music typewriter that looked more like an IBM Selectric.

Searching revealed this page with lots of interesting info on music typewriters. The model pictured looks to be a "Keaton Music Typewriter" and there are only a few known to still be in existence. Man I love the internet laugh
